Re: DLS Iridium 6.2 vs Focal 165K2P
Your right they are a good speaker and sound varies from the user to the install. I noticed the same thing about the doors being open it sounded better. I think those DLS speakers would have souned better in a proper kick panel with imaging like it should be. I don't know how in the heck you get those mid bass drivers to beat you in the chest....are you running them sealed?? They sounded way to muddy to me...the Iridiums are known for muddy midbass. I had them setup both active and with the crossover with serious power and didn't get anything I would call chest pounding...
Your right about different strokes for different folks...its all in how WE like our sound. Those tweeters as you said are very directional and should be positioned properly... I've heard one of the worst things you can do is aim the tweeters at the windshield....with how soft the Iridiums are it could acutally help wake them up a bit.
I would take the DLS speakers over any store brand for sure...I just don't think the sound is for me. Holding the focals in hand and comparing to the DLS speakers you can really tell and feel the quality in the Focals. There very very well built.
Don't get me wrong anyone these are good speakers and would suit most folks...
Justintoxicated, What do you have your crossover settings for the DLS...not that it matters much since the passive does most the work..but just curious...
Thanks
