You are correct, They have lived there for a long time and it is unfortunate that we as humans intrude into their territory. But that is human nature I suppose
I certainly would'nt want "all" of them killed, and I don't think that they all should be killed, I think the wildlife Managers in the Canadian Provinces and in the states that allow Mountain Lion hunting are doing a great job. It is when people who don't understand the dynamics in managing our wildlife populations step in and try to manage these populations with a Disney type of mentality. I certainly believe that with the proper management we can coexist with "all" wildlife.
