This is true of most fully-automatic firearms due to the rate of fire, not recoil, but I'm not sure if our wannabe Rambo realizes that. Or can even adequately define those terms.

About the only machine guns I've handled that can remain on target in full-auto mode are either those with a VERY slow rate of fire (like the M3 and M3A1 "grease gun," 450 RPM) or one in .22 rimfire.
