If trying to reduce the exhaust drone is your only reason for matting, then don't bother. It's made to reduce the resonance of the metal panels from your speakers. Will it reduce road noise? Yes, but not as much as a foam insulation mat or similar. I have 200 sq ft of mat in my truck and it barely made a dent in the exhaust noise, but that's not why I installed it.
