Re: Extended Warranty: What should I pay
Yes, I agree that having issues with previous auto's will make one think about an extended warranty. Thus my question. My wifes previous auto, a 96 Bonneville, had nothing but issues from day one. Not enough to lemon it, but enough to drive me crazy. In the end we got rid of it because the motor was going with less than 100,000 miles on it.
Most recently I am having issues with the truck I own, a 2001 Sonoma SLS Crew Cab. Yes, I expect to pay for general maintenance. But when I had to drop around a $1,000 over the past three weeks into it for non maintenance stuff (i.e. blower motor and switches on transfer case for HVAC system) it drives me crazy because this truck only has 43,000 miles on it. That is why I am seriously considering the extended warranty.
I do not think they will drop their price for several reasons. I do no have the upper hand. The dealership I am working with my wife works at. So my price for the truck I want is at $400 below invoice for what is on the lot, invoice if they have to find one and bring it in. They have nothing on the lot that I want. The next closest Nissan dealership sucks! I do not care for them and have not heard anything good about them. After that, t he next closest is 20 plus miles away. And they already lied to me and I think they know it. I think it was the old "bait and switch" routine in one form or another. So they are out also.
Time will tell.
