I had flex-a-lite fans on my 4Runner and when they kicked on it would put a pretty good load on the alternator and would slow the idle speed. That I did not like at all. They also made a pretty good mount of noise. I had one on my Ranger which was off a Focus and it worked a lot better. It did not put a huge load on the alternator and was whisper quiet.
