I use an NMO mount and the ground plane is MUCH better if drilled. When the install is complete Ill post some pictures. The antenna looks like a modified cell phone but I get OK gain even though its small. I mostly use 2meters (140MHz-150MHz) and 70cm (440MHz) the lower frequancies are just noisy (yes I am saying CB is noisy). If you want to learn more would be glad to help you out.
If you want a great CB antenna the Wilson 1000 will do the trick and its mag mount. No need to drill a CB antenna!  |
