Getting Parking Brake to Catch

I put my boat in the lake the other day.
I backed her down, pushed the parking brake down hard, put it in park and released the regular brake.
It rolled back a few inches.
When I got back in the truck, I pressed the regular brake, released the parking brake and pulled it down into drive.
When I did - CLANG - the loud sound of transmission pain

From now on, I put the parking brake on, put in neutral and let it roll back a tad before I put it in park. That seems to help, but the parking brake still does not seem to really hold all that well.

Any other ideas - or is this a problem for the dealer ??????

Thanks
