Rear KC door latch sticks

OK for you King Cab owners, you know how the little latch that prevents the rear door from opening while the front door is closed, sticks? And you have to fiddle with the handle a couple of times to get it to open? Mine was doing that, here's what I found.

Inside the mechanism is a small spring that is supposed to flip that lever out when the front door is opened, allowing the rear door to then be opened. There was a light coat of rust on the spring on the drivers side of mine. A couple of drops of light oil got it working smoothly. I did the pass. side just to be thorough.

Just remove the two philips head screws and carefully pull that whole latch assembly out of the door. It has a soft, gummy rubber seal on the back of it that will make it seem like it's not coming off, some careful prying will get it started and it will come off without damaging anything.

Note that you should use some kind of oil (a drop of motor oil will work fine) that will not wash away easily with water, and not something like WD-40 that evaporates and really doesn't leave any lubricating qualities after it's dry.
