Re: Towing question
I'll have to agree with some of the other threads. It's not weight of the travel trailer and golf cart that concerns me.
I pull a 2007 30 ft Jayco Flight travel trailer. I have a major gravel/quarry company down the street from where I live and have had my 2005 Titan SE Crew Cab & Travel Trailer scaled/certified in July 2006.
Having the Truck fully loaded with gas, equipment (in truck & trailer) and NO humans or pets on the scale, the combined gross weight is 13,300 lbs (I'm looking at the ticket as I type).
I also use a EQUALIZER hitch (best in my book....except for the Hensley Arror).
I will be adding rear Air Bags and rear Bilsteins shocks in the spring of 2007 for the reason of sway, ability to level the truck bed and firmer feel while towing our - MEALS ON WHEELS.
Remember, it's not that the TITAN can not pull the weight straight, it's the other factors while driving (wind, 18 wheel trucks passing, stopping, turns, jerks on the road while towing.....and they are plenty), that effect the short WHEEL BASE of the truck and overall handling characteristics and safety while driving in all types of conditions. I say this from trailering experience.
Such a senario as you describe may also lend itself to a situtation where an insurance carrier may refuse a portion of a claim relating to an accident. A great site to review is rv.net for all your RV needs. All the best.
