Re: Service Department Experiences
Dealer: Al West Nissan of Rolla, MO
Service Manager: Anyone who just happens to be there when you roll in.
Overall: Good with conditions--see below!
BLUF: Take your Titan there ONLY if you can stay and watch them work!! The techs did a few shady things while I was watching!! The 30k service is cheap! Only $396 for everything!! They will NOT to the 2* timing advance b/c it's 'illegal' for them to do it.
I haven't seen a post on these guys from anyone yet-and I know there are A LOT of Titan oHere's my story:
I took my 05 Titan CC SE in to these guys for the dreaded 30k service. The dealership is in a BRAND new facility. The shop is kinda small but clean. Customer service is OK. Their waiting area has a nice flat screen TV, kids play area, clean restrooms, tables to work at, and leather couches to lounge in. It also has a window to the shop with a table and bar stools-you're able to see every car in there being serviced-nice feature.
This however did not stop them from pulling some shady sh**.
Event 1: From the minute my truck pulled into the bay I watched my technician. He pulled it onto a lift on the opposite end of the bay and right in front of me was a dumba** tech working on a Nissan Quest. He was trying to reinstall a plastic cover underneath the front bumper and was having some trouble. He and the senior tech decided to do some Ozark engineering on it-the senior tech trimmed some plastic pieces off the customers car so the dumba** tech could get the cover snapped into place. The WHOLE time I watched them do this and they knew it-they did it right in front of the window in plain sight of anyone who might have been watching. When the lady came back I told her what I witnessed and she went and had a nice talk with the service manager.
Event 2: I brought my truck in having been told it would take 3 hours to complete. The tech started his work very quickly-having begun draining all the fluids almost immediately. 3 hours later the tech is still draining fluids, even though I could see nothing was coming out, and the service manager comes to tell me that it will be a little while longer will it finishes up (event 3 happens here). At this time my tech disappears for 30 minutes! No where to be found, no one touches my truck, fluids still 'draining.' 45 minutes pass before he comes back, buttons everything back up, and drives it around for me to pick up. Basically he successfully got another labor hour tacked onto the bill. The bill was really cheap though-even after 4 hours labor.
Event 3: When the service manager came to stall for more time he reviewed checklist of work performed on my truck. He begins to explain to me that 'little' things like replacing the radiator cap isn't necessary even though it's prescribed in the service manual. I don't think I've ever replaced a radiator cap on any of my cars-but I told him I'm paying him for the complete 30k service and not his opinion of what should not be done.
Overall, I'm pleased with the experience largely based on the fact that it was relatively cheap compared to what some have you guys have had it done for. I'm fortunate that it wasn't 5-600+-then I would have been pretty angry. So if you plan on using them, I urge you to PLEASE stay there with your vehicle and watch them like a hawk. If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
