First and foremost, check to make sure the diff is full! There hve been many delivered with low fluid levels. Other than that, just go by what's in your owners manual as far as change intervals....I go a little more often because I tow with mine. Any good synthetic 75/140W gear oil is fine.
You can;t over-change the fluid so....if you want to know what the magnet looks like, just change it. Should take you all of 20 minutes to do. I buy 3 QTS. You'll use a bit less than that but it takes more than 2. Good luck.
