I was disappointed with Nissan stopping the process of coming out with a heavy duty truck, but I fully understand,from reading Nissan's comments, why they chose to do so. However, I would love for Nissan to come out with a diesel that could do what the 5.6 can do. Also, they could garner even more sales by doing a Heavy Duty half ton, like GM/Chevy did a few years back. I suppose to make the present Titan into a heavy duty you would at least have to"

1. Maintain the low gearing at least to what the Big Tow has.

2. Put a heavy duty rear end in the thing.

3. Beef up the suspension.

4. Increase the length of the wheelbase. This is already on the books for the 2008 Titan.

5. Give it a larger gas tank. Also coming with the longer wheelbase in 2008. When you are towing and getting 9 or 10mpg, that larger tank comes in real handy.

6. Also may need to increase the brakes.

None of the above changes are so revolutionary that Nissan couldn't do it without a big risk to them. Nissan has to be careful with their decisions because they don't have the deep pockets, like Toyota, to cover a mistake.
