Re: Brake Recall Info
I have a O5 CC with just a little over 10,000 miles on it, manufacture date 01/05. I am begining to experience the infamous brake problem. The brakes seem to require heavy pressure and not respond as I expect sometimes. I am also starting to feel the jutter when using the brakes. So far the jutter has been pretty light and the wife has not noticed it. I was heading to the Mini Cooper rally up at "The Dragon" (mountain roads), a few weeks ago and hit the brakes pretty hard. I got a pretty extreme jerking from the brakes that seemed to repeat itself when I tried it again. Maybe what I felt was part of the braking system that just showed up on the more intense driving conditions? Whatever the reason for the jolting I have been motivated to get something done.
I called my dealer Regal Nissan and checked parts availability, mentioning the service bulletin provided at the start of this post? The service rep. checked and says he has the parts in stock so I made an appointment for monday.
I am concerned that Regal may respond with the "we can not find a significant problem so we can not fix it routine". Should they just replace the parts mentioned in the bulletin, or do they have the option of claiming that they do not "see" the problem? Is there any way I can find out if I have the faulty brakes on my vehicle? I printed the bulletin and plan to take it in with me.
Having had more than my share of problems with Dodge dealerships (will never own another), I would like to be prepared and not have to fight an on going hit and run battle over months or years.
