Re: Phx TruTrac install ?
Is Trutrac practical for a regular day to day driver?
Yes, extremely. It is automatic in its operation, requires no driver action to initiate, strengthens the rear differential with a stronger carrier and eliminates the weak oem spider gears. You need to be aware that both rear wheels will be spinning in low traction situations and conduct yourself accordingly, as the rear of the truck will tend to want to come around as compared to an open diff. This is not really a problem (and can actually be alot of fun) if you know how to drive.
Any negatives associated with this mod?
(1) it costs money (2) potential warranty issues with rear differential (e.g. defects might be blamed on TrueTrac or its installation - for example leaking seals - worn ring/pinion) (3) the need to find a competent installer - as somebody who doesn't know what they are doing can really mess things up.
