Selling the Blacked out Titan

Hey Everyone,
I'm going to buy a new Titan but the dealer ship only wanted to give me 18k for my truck.
I felt that I should give the Titan family a chance to buy instead of trading it in.

The truck is a 2005 Black CrewCab LE with 125,000 miles.

Add ons and such:

Brand new Toyo Open Country 355/65R20 A/T
20" Spy wheels
6'' Pro comp suspension lift
3'' Body lift
Brand new Brakes and Rotors all the way round
Drive shaft spacer
Tru-trac rear-end
Brute Force air intake
Jba Short headers
3'' Banks exhaust
Up-rev custom tune. "3 settings Turd for gas saving, tow mode, performance mode" I normally leave it in performance mode and get about the same gas mileage. If you don't know anything about Up-rev it isn't a generic tune you upload. The truck was put on the dyno and tuned.

I have alot of money in this truck and really hate to sell it because it has been such an eye catcher. I can't lie I love when people go out of their way or stop in traffic just to take my picture.

I'd like to get 20,000 for the truck or I'll just keep it. The truck is in really good condition other then a few dents and dings here and there.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

doesn't sound too bad. I traded in my 07 SE 4x4, leather, rear sensors, etc, with only 37k miles and dealer gave me $19,000.00 I know you have a lot of money in it but given what many have said on here is that you don't really get that back.

Hey,
This truck is an Le so rear power window back up sensors all the bells and whistles.
I dont have to sell it so I'm firm on my price which I think is fair. Which many others must think so to because I have gotten a few pm already of some people wanting to come look at it.

Add it up

wheels tires 3000
up-rev 1000k
tru-trac 800
headers 400
exhaust 700
lift 2000

I mean it is a no brianer if you are looking for a Bad *** Titan.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

Without doubt you have a ton of money invested, unfortunately all the add-on's mean nothing to the dealer. A few things to consider- don't forget to calculate the tax credit you receive when trading and purchasing new. Maybe you could find a private party interested and do a "courtesy trade" with the dealer (also know as a "in and out"), that way you save on the tax and for a couple extra $$ the private party could receive a thirty day warranty. Be sure to start at invoice with the new titan, then subtract rebates, minus your trade at ACV (actual cash value)= price + tags, tax and transfer. Good Luck.

Thanks for the tips. I have considered all of that. As for trading to dealer it is out of the question.

I wasn't saying its not worth it. Its definately not unreasonable. I was in a weird way agreeing and adding that the dealer doesn't care about any of those things. Its definately priced rt for the buyer who wants all the upgrades.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

Agreed, dealer doesn't give two craps about the upgrades.......Especially with 125K miles! If you can't sell it on your own with all the perks, just part them out go back to stock and the dealer will still offer 18K!!!

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

i'm sure those are the prices you paid for the aftermarket items.
but now they are considered used.
for instanse, uprev is max $700 now, new shipped. not $1000

You are correct but I didn't do it my self. I paid the professionals at Z1motorsports to tune the truck. I believe they spent about 6 hours total on fine tuning the truck.

Bottom line the price is 20,000 and it is worth every penny.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

i'm not saying it's not.
i could take my truck right now to uprev in austin, give them $700, and they will tune my truck, regardless if it takes 1 hours or 24.
another guy on here tuned his truck, and only spent $500 (non tuner version) and it actually took a couple of days till they got everything working
paying $1000 on uprev is getting ripped of for $300.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

He can ask what he wants for his truck, its his choice... the market will dictate if that is too high. OP sadly youre up against a high oil price, thirsty vehicle and dealers knocking 11k+ off new zero mileage vehicles. If i were you id bite the dealers arm off as 18k is a good price. Good luck.

Re: Selling the Blacked out Titan

good lookin truck man, have you considered parting it out then trading it? 18k with 125,000 on it is actually a reallyyyy good deal, and since add ons dont factor in to a resale, you might be better off going to almost stock and selling your mods, the market is prime for used accessories. I paid 18k for mine last yr with 31,000 miles to give you an idea.

good luck with the sale

That is what ya'll dont understand because you all get beat up when you go to dealer ships. Add ons really do matter. If the dealer ship had my truck they would put it on their lot for 25k and be willing to come down to 22k out the door.

The adds on matter every bit. As for parting it out. Never going to happen. I have someone coming to look at it already next week. This truck will not last long.

20k for this truck is a deal.
