Same Concept?

This would also be the same concept of having a daystar kit right? Bigger coil spring means extending the shock farther then it was made to go resulting in shock failure???? Is this why the PRG kit sits on top?

i DON'T THINK THAT THIS IS THE SAME PRINCIPLE AS THE DAYSTAR KIT. THE COIL IS ALOT HEAVIER DUTY THAN THE OEM COIL SO IT DOESN'T ALLOW THE FRONT END TO SAG DOWN WITH THE WEIGHT. aCTUALLY THIS COIL IS ONLY A LITTLE BIT BIGGER THAN THE OEM COIL.

um, actually, this is the EXACT same way of lifting as the daystar ... longer coil (or a spacer to push the coil down) will accomplish the same thing ... the shock will ride closer to its top out point thus allowing it to top out and break.

only way of doing it without breaking something is with Greg's coil spacer ... which is exactly the same as CST, Fabtech, and Procomp do for the lift (just in a smaller size). Now, you can replace the coils with a factory height or 1" taller made by Hypercoil or Eibach and probably get a MUCH better ride as you can get various spring rates, but adding a 2.5" longer coil will net the same result as Daystar.

As I Said Before This Is Not A Larger Coil It Is Merely The Same As The Oem Coil, Just Heavier Duty

And on a side note I had a custom made 3" coil made and have had it installed now for 6 months and have not busted a strut or anything in the front end

... and taller ... thus the problem ... as for no problems, i am betting you do not have the off road package ... if you do, consider yourself lucky.

I do not have the offroad package, and as you mentioned about using a one inch taller spring that would provide a better ride, i think that this spring is probably one inch or smaller than the original. My point is it is not a 2.5" taller spring. So if you are saying an eibach or one inch taller spring would be good than this one should be also.

You originaly stated this would raise the truck 2.5" though? If it was the same as the OEM spring then how does it lift the truck 2.5"???

Sounds like the seller is stating that the spring has a stiffer rate so it doesn't compress like an OEM spring would. This is how he gets the truck to be "lifted" 2.5".

Wouldnt a stiffer spring make the ride stiffer. Now you raise the center of gravity by 2.5 inches in front give it less ability to compress I believe you would have a perfect recipe for a roll over. Bmw had this problem when they came out with thier SUV's. Wanted a sporter feel to the SUV and gave it stiffer springs until they couldnt pass the DOT inspections. Im no car expert just a simple 1+1=2 kinda guy but when I lowered my old car and put stiffer springs on I notice a huge difference in the feel. Really glad I lowered it instead of keeping it at stock hight.

That would be an INSANLEY stiff spring !!! Spring rates are measured by the amount of weight it takes to compress the spring 1" ... so on the non-offroad titan ... with a factory 500# spring rate that compresses say 3" on each side (that's 1500# per side being applied) ... so 3000# ... to make the spring compress 2.5" lessthan 3" ... you would need .5" of compression ... so take 1500# weight per side and you need to compress it 1" to find the spring rate ... so the spring rate would need to be ....

3000# spring rate PER SIDE ... That would ride so insanely rough (and would cause breakage somewhere I'd bet).

I think NOMike had an idea that would eliminate spacers (I'm all for that), but didn't understand the issues caused by the Daystar spacers.

A 1" taller spring with the factory spring rate would raise the truck 1" ... a 1" taller spring with a slightly higher spring rate (say 650-750#) would net about .5" for a total of 1.5" but would ride stiffer ... still not 2.5" and still risking coilover destruction.

The spring is at a stiffer rate than stock oem coil. Yes it is a stiffer ride....I was just offering something I had in the garage for sale if anyone wanted to experiment, use, improve upon, etc. As far as strut destruction etrc...i have not expereinced anything like that. I do not drive offroad, up mountains, pull 55,000 lb trailers etc.....Again just trying to offer something if you don't want it don't buy it
