Pace-Edwards Jackrabbit retractable Hard Tonneau Cover (Crew Cab)

I bought this brand new and installed. The problem was that the dealer lied to me in stating it was watertight. Pace-Edward's informational manuals also stated it was watertight. The cover is not watertight and it will leak. Perhaps with some good silicone caulking and correct installation, the cover will be less leaky, I don't know and have never tried. I can't use this cover due to it's water leaks. I needed a cover to keep the rain and weather off of my camping gear.

The cover does provide security, the reason why I bought it second to it's primary function of being water tight (which it is not).

The cover has all of the clamps, light switch and wiring that was used to connect to my XE Crew Cab. Some foam tape and maybe some gaskets may need replacing. My awesome Nissan Dealership uninstalled the cover taking care not to damage it or lose parts, as I was going to sue the dealer for fraud. Since court would cost me loss wages of over $200 per day, I decided not to go to court and eat the cost. However letting everyone and their brother know how I was deceived by both Pace-Edwards and my dealer. Hopefully they lost business due to their poor business ethics.

If anyone would be interested in this cover, I would like no less than $200 or Best Offer and of course, you would pay shipping expenses. I paid $1050 installed. The Cover 'could' be ~ 120lbs. I don't know how much it weighs. Otherwise I may trade at local dealer for truck accessories or give to Good Will (with a tax write-off).

I would sell this cover as is. Be aware it could need some replacement parts as I stated previously or additional parts to fit your truck.

If interested, PM me and we'll work out a deal. I'm located in NW Indiana.
The Cover is not compatible with a utilibed.

Have a good one.

If you want a cover that wont leak, try this one. I just purchased an Advanced Cover fold-a-cover for about $500 and it has been waterproof through the heaviest of rains. I will never have anything else.

I like the fold a cover. My question is can the cover be removed easily if I need the extra space or does at least one panel stay attached at all times?

BTW, sorry to hear about the problems your having. That kind of money is nothin to sneeze at and to be misled that way just plain sucks. Hopefully for such a cheap asking price maybe you'll find a buyer whos not so concerned about it being watertight. Maybe you should try ebay? Or better yet do you have craigslist in your area? Its free to advertise on that site.

were did you buy this cover? Just wondering seems kinda High priced for a Jack rabbit. Lot o Fun on Rt 41 has 3 models 2 pace edwards (jackrabbit) both between 5 & 6 hundred. The 3rd model which is around 1000 is much better. My dad put it on his truck. Very nice think it is called roll N lock. Much better top! I bought the ARE fiberglass top.

kslicker,

They're the asses that screwed me. Avoid them. They lied to me in stating the cover was watertight before I bought. Then after I had bought it and had leakage in it, they conveniently said that it's design didn't prevent leakage. It's only after my problems with them, did they put a sign on the covers stating that they will leak. I was going to take them to court, but my lost time at work would leave me little for the trouble. Besides, they're losing more business by their poor business ethics. After my problems, I heard numerous stories about how I wasn't the only one. Live and learn.

In trying to fix it, they screwed up my tailgate so it wouldn't shut properly and the plastic section around the tailgate handle broke free from the tape because they were slamming it so hard to get it to shut. I had to have my dealership fix the damage they caused.

Also, those prices weren't what they were selling them for. The Jackrabbit was ~$1050 installed with taxes. They actually have 3. The rollup, the Jackrabbit, and the powered cover.

Even at $700, the $200 I'm asking is still an exceptional price considering there's nothing wrong with it and it's as good as it was new on the truck. My Nissan Dealership who took it off, took a lot of care in preserving it's quality as I intended to exchange it for the money I paid, after I won the court case.

Be very cautious of them.

Rhino Lining in Merrillville is an excellent dealership and they sell the Jackrabbit. I've had exceptionally good experiences with the staff and the owner. They bend over backward to make you happy, just the extreme opposite of that other fun dealer.

Have a good one.

Because of it's size and the need to have it packaged, it's to expensive to ship. If you can pick it up in NW Indiana, I'll sell it.

Just PM me if your interested.

Have a good one.

200.00 Dollars is a great price! And not to defend them but they told us several times that NO soft or roll cover is leak proof and the Roll N Lock cover was the most expensive 1 with power as an option. Dad bought roll n lock without power installed for 1025.00 don't know if prices dropped between your visit and our? My Dad loves the Roll N lock hasn't had any leaks at all. About 10 weeks old. The service for us was very good watched them install my dad's and I watched them install My ARE fiberglass top. I did think that the owner and a few sales guys had bad attitudes very ****y like they were the only good dealer for miles. was put off by that but I wanted the ARE and I had a 50 dollar coupon off. the roll N lock was about 100 bucks cheaper than anywere else I could find. Again 200 bucks for any like new top is a steal!!
P.s. They did tell me about a guy with a Titan (probably you) that had leaking issues. They thought it was due to the large gap's in the tailgate. They told me if I had any issues they would put some sort of weather strip in the gaps.

Probably was me as they kept making excuses instead of resolving the problems. The areas leaking were the latch (which nothing can be done to it) and the locking cyclinder (they siliconed it). The latch was leaking big time in down pours. Also water would run on top of the cover back into the canister and would run out the back on to the bed header. It could be seen leaking in those 3 spots, but they for some reason could not see it.

It was also leaking on the 'outside' of the drain tubes. Since the tube fittings aren't seated firmly in the canister, they tend to float. This allows the water to leak around the fitting which in turn allows the leaking water to follow the outside of tygon tubing.

As I said, the only leak they managed to fix was the lock cyclinder.

Now the corners also leaked but that was due to the trucks rail caps allowing water to be channeled underneath them.

On the last visit, they screwed up the tailgate so it wouldn't shut properly. They slammed it so hard, to get it to shut, the broke the seal that kept the black molding around the tailgate handle. After that, I could never get it to shut properly and Nissan was only able to get it to shut after they uninstalled the cover.

I told Chris, their manager but he was rude insiting a pretty intense verbal arguement.

Yeh, they're nice as can be before the sale, but after, your on your own.

See I have the drop in bedliner. It doesn't have drain holes as a bed without a liner has, or a sprayed in liner has. So all those leaks cause the bed to hold about 3" or more so that the water was over the ribs in the drop-in bedliner. Completey unacceptable. Also, they did tell me before I ordered the cover that it was watertight and sited the tubes drain all the water out of the truck. That was a downright lie in which they said just the polar opposite when I came back to them with water leaking problems.

I hope you and your father don't have problems so you don't get the shaft from them.

Have a good one.
