We currently pay £0.98 per litre (liter!), don't forget US gallons are smaller than for petrol (pump gas, hi octane 98 ron) and £0.92 for 93 ron.
LPG, liquid petrolium gas, is what most would use for gas bbq's or running gas appliances at home out in the boonies. We have mains gas at 80% of commercial or domestic properties here in the UK. We can't use it for running vehicles though, it's illegal, no vehicle excise duty has been paid, this costs as low as £0.06 per litre!!
I remember visiting Nm and paying $0.79 per US Gallon some years ago, then last year it was $2+ and rising by the day.
The goverment here hasn't taxed the LPG as high as regular gas so thats why its so cheap. Our attempt to help stop global warming. We also don't have to pay the extra £8 to drive in London if you have an approved LPG conversion. 88%, is what I have been told is for taxes.
The converstion consists of a 95ltr tank and some pipes, thats all I know!
As for Iraq, well thats why we need all the taxes we can get hold of.
