Rockwood are supposed to be good trailers I think. I've heard good and bad things about Terry (what we have), but besides the normal minor plumbing problems, we've had great luck with it. I think our next one will be a Westwind though. I've always been partial to locally made stuff (Red Deer) and I like their basic layouts. I betcha we keep our Terry for years to come though. It's like our second home!!!

The Rockwood TT is made in the U.S. Illinois, I think. Check out www.forestriverinc.com

Yeah I saw all the info last night. Seems like they also have other labels like Flagstaff which look to be otherwise constructed the same.

There weren't any prices posted on the website though, obviously they want you to go to the dealer. Now, I do know that many of the class A motorhomes built on the Ford and or Workhorse chassis can cost upwards of 150K, and the tour bus based Class A Diesel Pushers can run into the many hundreds of thousands, but I assume that a ultralight travel trailer can't cost anywhere near that much!

Also, what is the standing heigth inside such an ultralight? I am 6'7" and would not want to be ducking all the time.

I've been told the Rockwood and Flagstaff models are actually of the same assembly line. They just place different decals on them. If you take a look at the Rockwood 2601 and the Flagstaff 26BHSS, they are identical floorplans and specifications. My Rockwood has A/C.

As far as the prices go I paid $26,900 CAD. The conversion on XE.com says $21500 USD.

I don't know how high the interior height is, I'll measure and let you know.

I was looking at the Rockwood 2701SS and I found this link to the

2601http://rvwholesalers.com/design/Rockwood_7/Rockwood_7.php?floorplan=2601

It would almost be worth it for me to drive to Illinois and pick it up.

The 2701SS (almost the same but longer and a bigger bunk) is priced at $19753 Canadian with the options I would want.

Not bad.

I looked at the 2701SS and I really, really wanted to purchase it, but I wasn't sure I wanted to tow a 32?' trailer. So I settled on the 2601. I don't think you can go wrong with either of them.

It was you that made my wife and I interested in looking at them. We are contemplating building a house on the lake. If we do that, then we won't be buying a new trailer. If not, we are going to go check out the 2701SS.

Roxanne at TrailBlazerRV

Hey, who went to see her on the weekend? I was talking with her and someone mentioned this forum. Pretty cool! If you end up buying anything, try to do it before the long weekend as that's when I'm picking up my trailer. It would be nice to have a referral credit when I get there so I can pick up a sewer hose etc.... Just kidding! How did you find Roxanne? Did you find a trailer?

It was me. Roxanne was very nice. No pressure. We looked at a Rockwood 2501, which is enough trailer for our family. Nice light 241# dry hitch weight, but still had 6241# GVWR and about 2500# payload. She is keeping an eye on incoming stock for us. The only one currently in stock is loaded up including DVD player and surround sound. We did drool over the big a$$ fifth wheel in the showroom, with the room in the back for a couple of quads. On sale now for $102,000.

Titans..

Soooo.. anybody here still talkin about titans or still just the trailer thing? Just kiddin' around! .... but really... about the gas mileage thing, I'm kinda curious how they (Nissan) come to make the claim about 24Mpg on the highway. Does anyone know? I'm guessing that its at the american average posted highway speed of 55. Or maybe it's on the dyno with no other variables to push the mileage down. Either way I'm a little disapointed in the amount I'm paying at the pump... 106L @ $1.01 = OUCH!
Mind you I am moving from a 2000 Acura EL 1.6 that sips on the gas. I guess I'll have to rearrange the finances to pay for the gas cause it's just too much fun not to tromp on the gas and watch the guys drivin' a hemi start bawlin'

I found this on the Federal Gov't website :

Testing vehicle fuel consumption is done in a laboratory under ideal conditions. Everyone drives differently and there are many variables that impact fuel consumption: speed, aerodynamics, vehicle options, cargo/passenger weight, road and weather conditions as well as driving skill and style to name a few. With the testing procedures done in the lab we are able to take out the human element so the tests are done exactly the same for each vehicle. This would be impossible if the tests were done on a track with a driver.

First, the vehicle is "run in" for about 6000 km and then given tests that simulate city and highway driving. The city-driving test is based on a 12-km drive of 22 minutes with 16 complete stops. The average speed of the test is 32 km/h, which includes time spent stopping. The highway-driving test is based on a 16-km trip of 12 minutes with no stops. The average speed of this test is 77 km/h on a clear summer day. Test results are adjusted downward to arrive at the estimates in the Guide and on the EnerGuide labels found on all new cars, vans, light-duty pickup trucks and special purpose vehicles. The resulting fuel consumption estimates are not perfect, but are a reliable and valuable tool available to consumers for comparing fuel consumption of different vehicles.

So..... yer never gunna get 24MPG on the highway.
