paint chipping

Has anyone experienced the paint chipping on the box in front of the rear tires and on the passenger side of the box? I have the step rails but they don't help and have only had the truck for a few months. This isn't right and am going to talk to the dealer. Any comments would be appreciated.

Re: paint chipping

I have had significant paint chippage on the fenders rear of the rear wheels but none in front...IMHO there isn't really anyway to stop it. There are many threads here on how the titan's paint (along with many newer vehicles) seems to be significantly thinner than it should be... Let me know what your dealer tells you--I may have to go bi**h as well...

Re: paint chipping

yeah the paint overall is of poor quality, every nissan forum has at least 2 threads on the paint. But alot of people complain about it (not just nissan, or titan owners). As we all know paint hates plastic on my truck you could take your fingernail and scrape it off, so this is were most chipping will occur. Just take extra care of the paint, keep it clean, wax it, or even buy one of those clear bra things. I know it seems like nissan is jipping us on paint, but this just means we have to be more carefull

Re: paint chipping

I don't have any paint chipping issues except on the drivers side tool box edge just in front of the bumper. I noticed that within the first couple of days.

Re: paint chipping

What are you supposed to do leave it parked in your garage so it dosn't get scratched up? If you use the truck on a daily basis normal wear and tear shouldn't include paint chipping after only a couple of months. How are people going to like turning the vehicle in at the end of a lease and paying for the repairs? Nissans answer that it isn't a warranty or bad design issue sure would change if they were forking out the cash to get it painted.

Re: paint chipping

if its that much of an issue buy a bra or the clear bra like a stated, its cost effective and it will protect your investment

Re: paint chipping

Thanks fior the advice, that is what is so great about this forum, but the chips are on the rear fenders where they flare out. The rest of the truck is fine.

Re: paint chipping

I think the paint chipping on the front of the rear fenders is just a bad design issue.
Anything that sticks out on the lower side of a truck like the fender flares is going to get pelted with rocks. Nissan probably put looks ahead of function.

Re: paint chipping

3M make a good product and you can get it to cover all the low parts of the truck. I got mine done at the dealer for about $150 cdn. It really helps and is just about invisable.
