I just had all the fluids changed on my 06 Titan with 41900 km, The rear end was full of iron filings. The truck does very limited towing. A new rear end is to be installed Jan 3. I thought it was odd when I dropped off the truck to be serviced and 4 new rear ends were stacked up for other customer replacement. The dealer has confirmed a problem exists but is not sure if the new rear end has any mods to it. Does any one else have any more info on this?

This was quite common in the SE off road packages with the locker rear ends.
I changed my fluids 3 times in the 1st 5000 km's and there was fine particles each time but nothing large. It stays clean now but I am not going to tempt fate. My Truetrac rear differential came in last week and it's going to be installed on the 29th.

Truetrac is not a Nissan product. It replaces the differential carrier, including the spider gears, in the rear axle. It requires mechanical skill & special tools to install. The OEM ring gear is removed from the OEM carrier and bolted to the Truetrac. The fluid capacity would be about the same. The way to get more fluid capacity is to use an aftermarket differential cover.

To change gearing, you would need both the ring and pinion. If you have a 4x4, the front & rear differentials must be geared the same.
I bought the TT at West Coast Differentials. IMHO, you should buy carrier bearings at the same time.
How do you like so far? I've read bits & pieces here about it, pretty much all good, but get the impression it's more of an off-road benefit kind of thing.

I like it. It is very good on the street. Since I don't like to burn rubber off my tires, it gets the most use in low traction situations (loose dirt, snow, ice). If you are spending all your time on dry asphalt and not interested in making dual black marks, no probably not much use (although it may be stronger than the oem spiders).

But it sounds like it may help traction when towing, especially now that we're going to start dry camping in the spring.
Thanks for the info.

I got mine from WestCoast Differentials as well. Install by the dealer is around $300 bucks. My biggest reason for getting one is the snow and ice in our area around 5-6 months of the year. The other is for better off roading in the non winter months. I guess that pretty much covers all 12 months.

Does anyone know the best place in Canada (or better yet Alberta) to get a Tru Trac?? i got a quote from The Gear Center in Edmonton, Alberta for 1300, NOT installed HAHAHA i see 4x4 parts.com has them listed at 545 USD probably cheaper to pay the shipping and duty just going through them...
Hi Titan 189, I'm from Edmonton and I also priced out a truc trac from The Gear Centre and they Quoted me the same price (Way to HIGH). I ended up going to Pro Trac. They brought the trutrac in for around $600 and installed it for about $300. Curtis was really awesome and he knows his stuff. He's installing my 3.36 gears in my truck as we speak.
