Re: Canadians, introduce yourselves!!!

Hey All.

Garett From Vancouver BC. I'm a snowboard rep with a new baby so I needed the extra room for cargo and the family. I upgraded from a Subaru Forester and had no idea what I was missing. I'm 2 weeks into owning a 2011 SV Crewcab. The mods started on the 2nd day with a Gibson stainless swept side cat back and a K&N series 63 Airchanger cold air intake. The idea was to get better mileage but it sounds way to good not to open it up from time to time. I'm considering a Superchips Cortex but am a bit concerned about voiding the extended factory warranty that I paid for. Picking up a Leer 100XR canopy later today. Excited that the glass on the canopy can be hooked into the keyless entry. I also had the dealership put on a set of Blizzaks as I'm in the snow 5 months of the years in the mountains around BC. The site is great and I look forward to sourcing an additional set of rims for my summer tires.

I put a Bully Dog gas tuner on my 2007 when I got it new. Never an issue with the dealership in Victoria, however, I do try to remember to return the ECU programming to stock when I take it in for service.

The new BG tunes on the fly and is very nice for power and, if you can keep your foot out of it, it does help with fuel mileage. I run my on regular tune, +2 advance with the limiters removed. I also have throttle WOT restriction removed. I do not recommend this if you are driving on snow and ice.

We don't do snow here on the island

Re: Canadians, introduce yourselves!!!

Hey & a big welcome to all the new guys!

I was talking to Brian from Advance Power House on Friday about tuning my truck, he told me he just dyno tuned a titan that had 90mm TB, headers, intake, & something else that he couldn't remember.

Are you on the forum? what 4" pipe did you run?

f.y.i. he posted a 40 HP gain from 292 to just over 330 according to Brian.

Re: Canadians, introduce yourselves!!!

Yeah, I'm a lurker here. Was going to post pics, etc, when the job was all done. Been at it for 2 yrs. I might suggest this - the 5.6L is coming out in 400 hp. I've spent $1000's to get 387hp!!

Firstly, you will need the UpRev Osiris and e-Tuner, $1000, Brian is an UpRev dealer.

I have NISMO long tube headers, deleted the 4 cats, installed B-pipes and 2 hi-flow DynaCats, Borla true dual exhaust, JWT CS2 cams, IPT tans kit, big Stillen rad, trans cooler and electric puller fans. Plus lots of suspension stuff.

I bought the Relentless RPM LS7 90mmTB from Harbour Nissan in Fla. with their 4" intake pipe. After all this the truck would not run. Bought the special wire harness from DanBlp, check out Anything Performance on the sight and go looking for the discussion on 90mm wiring harness. The Relentless harness was problematic. Put the OEM TB back on and trailered it to Brians' shop. And then drove it home. Brian is an ace!!! RWHP stock is 260hp, I got to 313 with all my parts and Brians tuning and another 17hp when Brian bolted on the 90mm and soldered in the new wire harness setup. That's when she hit 331 RWHP on Brians' dyno.

Since then, I have been working with a tuner on the TT forum. We do 0-60 runs and send the logs via email, he then does the tunes and sends back a new ROM for me to reflash the ECU. Am now on the 4th ROM. And I have 4 Maps that I can run. The truck has 275R65/20 (34.4" dia meats) and I can roast 'em!! Have redone shift points, timing, AFR's, you name it. That's the beauty of UpRev tuning. I'll bet this extra tuning has got me another 25 hp.

I don't know if Brian can do all that. He is a turbo charged, stick shift guy. Oh he's smart enuff alright, but has never done a V8 truck before like this. But he sure got my truck running properly. We had my truck on the dyno for 5 hours and in the shop for 8 hr and $1000 later it was running real smooth. We quit at 9pm. Maybe if he had more time he could do the same.

I see you have a 2005 QX. Consider waiting until the 400hp model comes out and THEN turn it into a 450 hp monster. Just my 2 cents worth.

Wouldn't a supercharger been an easier way to go, or did you look into it?

Re: Canadians, introduce yourselves!!!

Nice congratz cropdoc!! I'm already balls deep in my project I'd love to get one of those direct injection engines but i'm married to the VK56DE for now I've known Brian for years & yeah he's the man! You've got a hell of a set=up there I NEED to ride in a cammed T a.s.a.p. let me know next time your in the city. I'm running the Stillen ceramic LT headers, B-pipe, stillen supercharger, Brute force intake, trans & oil cooler etc.

I need to get my trutrac diff & some hard tranny parts before I get Brian to tie it all together. Running the stillen piggy back right now & i cant complain. And yeah suspension too but i went the other way lol. Is ben running your new maps? I've heard nothing but great things! and yeah I can peel out on 24" KMC rockstar rims 305/35/24 heavy set but she spins Brian swears by his 4 cl & 6 cl because he loved all the support out there and he sees them day in & day out, v8's dont get as much love (esp. when its not a big 3 truck motor) but Brian is a mad-scientist when its time

F.Y.I. there's a new group called Ertefa which does car meets in Toronto every thursday night, I'm hoping to get our titan Canada meet to start rolling there sometime soon!

Anyways really glad I found you and I hope you keep the mods going brother keep me posted! F.Y.I. i bought 3 VK56de motors in the state pre-VVT that I have if anyone needs parts let me know.

Re: Canadians, introduce yourselves!!!

I thought the $5000 was awfully steep. What did I know!!!
Wanted a Paxton but they don't have a bracket for the Titan. They would sell me bracket material to build my own. Also considered an STS turbo but would have to mount the air intake thru and up into the bed. So ended up with natual induction. The hard way. What we need boys is for some outfit like JWT or Stillen to make adaptor plates to mount LS2/7 intakes on our Titans. That's the ticket we need.!!!!
