Re: All weather floor matts

Scrub them using dish soap or 409 and a scrub brush.

Re: All weather floor matts

Spray em down with a decent degreaser/cleaner....let em sit for 5 minutes....then pressure wash them till no more suds appear. Follow up with a little tar remover to get the spots. soap to get out the tar remover and pressure wash again till clean. Hang em up with a clamp to dry. wait till they are completely dry before installing or they will fade your rugs.

Is it the degreaser that causes the fading???

No ...It's the moisture....Seen it many times.
Carpets and mats must be dry or you trap moisture underneath and then the mildew alters the color somehow.
I've just learned over the years that you never re-install mats that are damp or over damp carpeting.

Kind of common sense. . .

Re: All weather floor matts

Bring them to the car wash that has the high pressure hose system. Works every time for me. No elbow grease involved.

Interesting..... I always wait for them to dry to avoid getting that yucky musty smell but i didn't know water could cause the color to fade.

Re: All weather floor matts

The yucky smell is the begining of the mold/mildew process... Somehow, that moisture & bacteria trapped underneath the damp mat causes a color change.... I pressure wash em, shop vac em and let em sit in the sun for a few hours.

Good advice Chris! Hope all is well man...

Flewbyu-I use some APC on a sponge and 303 protectant on my Nissan All Weather Mats and they look brand new.
