Picking this unit up tomorrow and was wondering what pads and polishes everyone is using? Im seeing a lot are using Lake Country pads and polishes are kinda all over as far as brands go. What do you guys use and any tips? If you have any pictures would be awesome!
I've had my Porter Cable 7424 for about 15 years. It's a great tool. I started out using pads from Griot's Garage and then switched to the pads from Adam's Polishes. The Adam's pads are way, way, way better. They fit better, they last better and they were bigger too. Adam's has done some tweaking of their pads of the years to make them better. Cheap? No. They are expensive at first blush. But keep in mind you want a really good pad as it's what you're putting against your paint. I use a number of other products from Adam's but I don't (yet?) use their polishes. I still use the polishes from Griot's Garage because they have worked so well for me over the last 15 years.
I use their Universal Pad Washer. It saves me a lot of time on clean up.

I have the Meguiars pads and backing plate because I found them locally at an autobody supply place. I'm going to try another brand when I get new pads/backing plate. The Velcro on the Meguiars backing plate kind of melted and the pads don't stick right any more. For polishes and wax/sealant I use Poorboys Products, you can use them in full sun which makes things a lot easier.
