Polishing Aluminum truck box

I need some suggestions on what to use to polish and shine my dee zee box with. Any help is appreciated

hagerty....polishing one of the diamond plate boxes is one of the worst jobs for a couple of reasons.
1. it's a very messy/dirty job
as you polish it...everything, including you gets black
2.in order to do it right...it's very time consuming.

The only real way to polish one of these is with a variable speed buffer, compound and a wool pad.

You can try one of those mag wheel polishing balls you hook up to a drill, but you'll be there a month of sundays and it'll look like a dogs breakfast when you're done...

Do not however try to spray any chemicals labeled as an aluminum brightener or diamond plate restorer. They are only going to burn it white.

If you want it shiney...gotta buff it with high speed.

Oh yeah...if you are going to leave it on the ruck when you polish it...make sure you paper and tape off the surrounding are from splatter.

I agree 10x, I "attempted" to polish a piece of diamond plate once. Ended up scrapping that idea and the use of the diamond plate all together in the application. What an ignorant mess!!!!!!!!!!

HA! LOL! I was once hired to detail a customized 18 wheeler with diamond plate on everything....Worst nightmare job ever...I learned real fast about diamond plate....MORE MONEY $$$$$

i have the same box, as posted above already PITA!!!!! i use mothers polish and a high speed buffer, i usually spend about 2 hrs just to make it look shiny and about 4-5 pads on the buffer, looks brand new when finished....just time consuming.

There's a great product called Flitz, rub it on, work it in and wipe it off....either way you're gonna rub your b*lls off! It'll probadly take at least 6-8 beers to do it properly.
