Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

It's clean, all the bugs have been scrubbed off, yet it looks exactly how a bugshield that has 47,000 miles on it should look I guess. Dull, stained(from the bug residue), and just plain looks like crap.

Is there any easy way to restore the shine to like new again??

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

I think you'd have to use some polish and a buffing wheel to restore it..

I'll send P's over to this thread..

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

Is it a clear, or smoke one? Try this. It sounds strange but try it on a small spot and see if it helps. Toothpaste. Not a gel type, but a paste type. Use that like you would a polish and see if it won't clear it up. I've had some success with this, believe it or not. Got the idea from Two Guys Garage on Speed Network.

Yeah.. It's the lye that's in the white toothpastes.... It's what makes them gritty. You have to be careful, it could scratch the plastic, though.

Or, since it's Lexan, you can just use really, really, really fine grit emory cloth. I've seen that done on convertible tops with Lexan windows. They'll actually go from fine down to super fine in increments.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

Just buff it with some glaze......

It shouldn't take you more than 1 minute max.

apply a thin coat of glaze with an applicator and run a buffer down it from right to left....Done.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

There is a product called Novus 1, 2 and 3 in varying grit so to speak. I use it on an acrylic aquarium and had the same issue on my wife's Ford Windstar smoke bugshield. I was amazed at the difference it made, it looked almost new again and goes on like a polish and buffs off. It took 3 or 4 applications to get it looking really nice. Hope this helps. Worked well on the headlight clear plastic as well.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

will this work for plastic lenses on my ford-Murc-Link Grand-Town-Vic?

They are yellowed out and the light is dim.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

I like to use mothers car wax rub it in and buff it out. It works great on headlights for the older cars as well.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

Hello.....Mcfly....Anybody home?

Listen guys....This stuff is easier than you think.

Forget about "home remedy" kinda stuff and just do what works.

Grab a cheap buffer (you'll use it for other things) and a little glaze and in less than 1 minute, you're done!

Headlights will take you 3-5 minutes each but the results will be night and day by using the machine VS. hand

I'm trying to help you guys here.

Re: Help!! My bugshield looks like crap!

if the listed doesnt work try using some compound or a good cleaner wax.you can also try some nano wax by eagle one.one of these should work.
