Trying to remove Bug Stains/crust

Hey Guys,
I have noticed that I am having a super hard time getting all the bug residue off the front of my truck...

I have never done a real "full detail" of the exterior, just washed and waxed. I am planning on doing a clay bar here pretty soon. Will this work on the bug residue?

I use a product called bug be gone. It comes in a spray can. You spray on wait 30 seconds and wipe the bugs and tar right off. Comes in handy in Louisiana with the love bugs. Afterwards i would use the clay bar prior to waxing. This will make your clay bar last longer as well.

1. Pressure wash as much off as you can. (watch the pressure on your paint)

2. Soak in either a bug removing solution as mentioned above or kerosene, or a good quality tar remover.

3.Gently agitate with this bug sponge filled with the solution and a shot of carwash soap for lubrication. http://www.autodetailingsolutions.com/bug_sponge.htm

4.Wash with a wash mit in foamy car wash soap.

Anything left over, Claybar...Done.

wash truck then use a dryer sheet w/soapy water over bugs. works in florida may not work on northern bugs.

Damned ole love bugs..... Hate 'em. I have a Different problem........I bought the truck (second owner) and the first owner left the love bugs on the front!!!! Now the front bumper has the left over stainage (if that is a word) that the bugs leave behind if never washed. Is there anyway to get this off??? It is like ghosts (for lack of better word) of the bugs on the bumper. I know the bugs are little acid pockets and for the life of me I cannot figure out why someone would NOT wash them off.

You hit the nail on the head...The spots you are seeing are probably acid deposits left behind by the guts... After a good cleaning you should be able to better assess the situation... Post some pics and we'll go from there...Unless we can see what you're dealing with we can't recommend anything...

Wish I had better news but it is what it is...

The guy had the sense at least to have a bug shield on the hood....Not an acid mark one!!!! Might have to yank the bumper and get a repaint done to it.....Or if I am lucky, find a radiant silver bumper (chrome insert or not) and replace mine. I will try to clay bar this weekend (if I make it home). If that does not work, might have to try my old remedy.......a rag and a little bit (tip of the rag) gasoline. Rub it on a bottom spot to see if it takes it off. I think I am screwed though.

The gas is fine to use and you don't have to be skimpy with it...It won't harm the paint, although I prefer Kerosene cause it doesn't dry out as fast and has a longer "working " time...especially if you add a small amount of carwash soap to it.

I must be out of the loop, I've been spending money on expensive waxes for over two years now and have never heard of clay bar, i've done some research is it as good as the reviews say?

yes they are very good. If you get a good one you will notice quite a difference on your paint and shine. Adam's had a really nice one thats works great

as far as the bugs guts...

A good wash soap some scrubbing with a soft wash mit and some detail spray will bring that stuff right off. A member here at our recent Stillen Meet hit his bumber with Adam's Detail Spray with his microfiber and brought it right off.

Ok so the guy I work with owns a '02 Lightning and he swears by Adams clay bar, just thought I throw a shout out for Adams cause this guy is so crazy about his truck.
