After putting up with the tiny "rust" looking spots on my White 04, I finally did the clay bar deal...and let me tell you, it works great! Takes time, but better than anything else I have tried. I got the Mother's kit that has everything even a liquid wax to finish it off. If you have the small rust looking spots, do it following the tips on the other post.
Debadged,4 piece billet grille, 20"Akuza wheels, tech12's w/ Memphis PR1-1000 amp / M-10's, Kenwood 7019 DD,DVD HU, Line of Fire LED light bar, LED third brake light, smoked tails, EFX HID lows and fogs, painted to match MADA air dam / inchannel window visors, Stillen Billet aluminum cap covers, 15% front tint, Non BT mirror swap. Truxedo lo pro tonneau cover
No pics...I attempted to take some, but the spots don't show very well. It looked like my truck had freckles in some spots, worse than other places. Not a problem any longer!
Are these actually rusts spots?? Mine are tiny like specks. I've seen them all over my white Titan and have had pretty good results waxing them off. The reason I question them being rust is because I've also had the on non metal body parts like the painted door moldings.
I Noticed this on the white Titans and 350Zs at the dealership, I think its just scrap from the rain I doubt its rust on cars that havent even been bought yet

I believe the rust spots can be attributed to rail dust as well as other particles floating in the air. When vehicles are transported via rail, there is rail dust created by the train car "wheels" contacting the track. All vehicles pick up these particles, however they tend to be most noticeable on white vehicles. I am doing the paperwork on my white 2008.5 tomorrow and already have plans to clay it and get a good wax on it.

X2 on the cause. I have had several white trucks through the years. On the first one, when I spotted this, I panicked thinking it was rust. A local paint shop clued me in. It's not always rail dust sometimes it can even be brake dust from the truck itself. It's usually on the surface of the clear coat and takes means other than the normal wash and wax to remove it. I have never tried a clay bar on it but it makes sense that it worked for you. Usually I would have my paint guy buff it out once and then wax the heck out of em. I love white trucks and wish in retrospect I had gotten the Titan in that color.

I have those kinds of spots on my OEM "chrome" grill. So far nothing has gotten rid of them. I've tried polish and chrome cleaner. Someone said they are copper coming through from under the finish.

I don't see how it can be rust on a grill that is all plastic.

Maybe my quotation marks around rust weren't enough...The spots look like rust and that was the only way I could explain it. I did however think it was odd that the spots were also on my plastic trim pieces, but I didn't notice the "rust" (hehe) till I moved up north where there is mucho salt on the roads. No big deal, I'm just glad my "rust" spots are gone on my gorgeous gas guzzling truck so I can enjoy burning 4/gallon even more!
