Removing Wax on Door Handles

I have had my new Titan Crew Cab SE LWB for two weeks now and am loving it (replaced 2005 Ford F-150 what a difference!!!) however it would appear the dealer attempted to wax it without taping off the black door handles. When I picked up the truck it looked fine, but since it has rained the handles have that white wax stain. Can anyone recommend how to remove these stains? I was thinking of going back to the dealer but decided if they were dump enopugh not to know the wax would stain the door handle do I want them correcting the problem. Thank you in advance.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

If you use a pressure washer it should take it off. Thats what I use on my bed caps and door handles.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

I use this stuff. It will actually strip the wax out of the pores in the plastic and protect it at the same time.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

I'd wipe em down with some silicone-wax-and grease remover from an auto paint store, then coat them with Adams VRT to restore.

Forgot that part. Be sure to give it a good coat of VRT afterwards to give it some UV protection.

I tryed the pressure washer but they must have hit the handles with the power polisher because the wax did not come out. Think I will try the product Yellowmantis suggested. Hope I can find it locally.

Thank you all for your responses.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

To be honest...You'll prolly never get it off completely...you'll have to cover it using a sponge with flat black paint.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

Use peanut butter. The white residue will go away...forever. Well forever maybe a little optimistic.

I wouldn't recommend a pressure washer on a vehicle.

I always reccommend a pressure washer....Used properly.

It's one of the best ways to remove contaminants without physical touch....That keeps scratches to a minimal.

By the way...the oil in the peanut butter is what temporarily "masks" the dried wax residue.

Being new here I am not trying to raise a fuss, but when I used the PB on my 04 pathfinder which had plenty of black places to collect wax, there was no return of the white residue. If the PB oil is masking it, it does it for a very very very long time. Speculation would be the gritty texture of the PB helps to clean deep but that could be BS.

Re: Removing Wax on Door Handles

I got polish on the black trim of my bumper. I used Mother's Back-to-Black and a little elbow grease. That took care of it.

According to information I got from Griot's Garage I can use their Speed Shine to get rid of excess Best-of-show wax. I don't know if it will work on other waxes.

I don't know if peanut oil is the only active ingredient necessarily. I would think oil in the PB would loosen the wax and the grit in the PB would help to agitate the residue.
