De-badging dillema

Okay here is the problem, I debadged one side of the truck, and apparently when I ran the fishing line behind the badges I got it between the emblem and the glue not the glue and the body. So here is the problem I have the thick part of the glue left on the truck, and I am catching hell removing it. Goo-Gone is not working...any ideas to get this crap off?

Re: De-badging dillema

use a heat gun until it bubbles up. then it is easier to wipe off. then use the goo gone to remove any excess adhesive.

Carb cleaner or laquer thinner will also work. Just be sure to clean and wax it well afterwards.

http://store.autotoolexpress.com/sgt17900.html

I used this on my whole truck and it is 10 times faster that using a heat gun or goo gone. Here is a link to a site that sells them but you can get it at any auto parts store. Called an eraser wheel. Just hook it onto your drill and go to work.

Re: De-badging dillema

I took my fingernail gently picked at a corner untill I could pinch it with my nails, and if you pull at an angle down and away from the truck you can work the whole peice of rubber and it will pull right off, no chemicals needed.

a quick shoot from the heat gun helps soften the glue.
then just wash the truck cause theres gunk around the borders where the letters were.

Re: De-badging dillema

I def. reccomend the eraser wheel. piece-o-cake. Then afterwards a little polishing compound and some wax and your set. I've got to get some pics up.

Re: De-badging dillema

Thanks for all the replies...I have an eraser wheel on order, and in the mean time I tried some OOPS and it works pretty good also, a bit better than Goo Gone. At the moment I am waiting for the eraser wheel so I have one door de-badged and all others still on LoL.
