Filling in a deep scratch

I was keyed a while back. It goes from headlight to tailgate. Its a huge eyesore. It really stands out on my 06 charcoal colored titan.

What can I do to temporarily fix this? Eventually it needs to be repainted but right now, I just want to hide it as much as possible.

I tried the nu finish stuff, but it's too deep for that to have any affect

Temporarily? Touch up paint with a real fine touch with the rubbing compound to level it out. Be very careful.

Ultimately you plan on getting it professionally repaired, no?

I cant help you for now, But to prevent it from happening in the future, I see you have a college team license plate and some stickers on your back window, id suggest removing those because they give someone a reason to hate you and to scratch your car, also stickers about countries and what not are highly advised to be removed

You do realize that people from other places that do not like LSU do visit your area correct? Or is it a gated neighborhood for only LSU fans?

So someone who hates LSU could have seen your truck and since they will never be in the area again, may have keyed it.

I would get an insurance claim, my wife's Jeep was keyed a couple of years ago in our apartment complex and it only cost us around $100. If you work for a body/paint shop, you can probably get the insurance company to pay for it and perhaps your place of employment would not charge you for your deductible. Also, your insurance will not go up as it was not your fault.

naa i don't think so. i go to lsu which has around 30,000 students and it summer now.

i'm thinking ex girlfriend maybe? she just moved out her for school about a week ago. i looked at the insurance thing and its a 500 deductible.

and my apartment is full of college students, and almost everyone has an lsu sticker or something of that nature.

Re: Filling in a deep scratch

Or you can just go here and use the same method with longer smooth strokes....

Re: Filling in a deep scratch

Quit hatin' on teams or what not. People have no life so they have to go key an automobile. It sucks I know, but not much we can do about it. I park way out in the middle of nowhere to avoid getting banged up by doors. That would be my best suggestion.

Re: Filling in a deep scratch

Fill it it with touch up paint let sit for about 24hrs to cure, then use a high speed polisher with a polish or cutting compond .This should smooth it down. No walmart stuff i get products from Auto Detailing Supplies and Car Care Products, Car Detailing Super Store, Auto Detailing Trailers and more

Re: Filling in a deep scratch

honestly, this is what I do, just like that sharpie mini comercial where its a studen driver and they go around fixing their damage with sharpies... IT WORKS I have not done it on my titan just cuz I dont want marker on it and scratches dont bother me but Ive done it on friends cars (newer cars and some piles 2...).. thats my honest thought... try it.. you can probably get it off and its reallllyy cheap.
