Tiny dent.

Howdy folks.
Just got done detailing the truck and noticed a small dent in the door right above the molding, maybe 1 1/2 inches above it. Its barely noticeable really, unless looked at from an angle. It's maybe 2-3 mm deep and looks like it may have been hit by a grocery cart. There is no paint damage at all, just this tiny dent.

Heres the question. Does anyone know, as in first hand experience, a way to remove this dent without taking it to the shop?

Ive seen videos where ya squirt it with compressed air from them computer duster cans after hitting the area with a blow dryer.

Ive seen an ice cube method as well.

Im terrified of screwing up the paint, but would prefer to save a few bucks by doing it myself. Of course, if the DIY experts suggest the body shop, thats where its going.

Thanks in advance folks.

Re: Tiny dent.

I would take it to one of those paintless dent removal shops and get their opinion. They might be able to just pop it out.

Re: Tiny dent.

If your comfortable about taking off your door panel, pop it off and see if you can find the ding from the inside. Use a light dead blow hammer to tap the ding. If you don't have a dead blow, use a piece of wood and a hammer. The block of wood is to deaden the hammer blow and keep you from adding dings in other areas.

Ugg. Thats not for me. Never had much luck with getting stuff back together and things not rattling around. And me whacking stuff never turns out well either.

Thanks for the input folks. Will probably take it to one of them paintless places. Was hoping them videos may have been the way.

Re: Tiny dent.

actually, if you could get to it, the hammer and wood block is to much for that job. Works great on mid sized stuff though. The best way to do it is, take a large flathead screw driver, wrap a terry cloth around the end of it, and basically use it like a scrapper. Instead of pushing forward though, apply the pressure when you pull back to you. Works like a charm. Other than that, your best option is to get some dry ice(if you can find it at a local grocery store) and hold it on top of that area until it pops out. Make sure you put a brown paper bag against the metal though. You don't want the dry ice to actually touch the door.

I agree 110% with Arachnid. I had one almost at the exact same place as you and about the same size. Believe it or not, it was caused by my father in law who threw open the door of "his" car, thus putting a nice little ding in my door. We took it to a PDR (paintless dent removal) shop and within 10 minutes and $40 bucks later, it is absolutely invisible. That would be my advice.

Re: Tiny dent.

As a body guy...I would reccomend PDR (paintless Dent Repair)
You can even look in the phone book, and maybe even schedule the guy to come to your house and do it...
