cola all over console...how do I take it apart?

Does anyonne know how to take apart the console without "snapping" /breaking the pastic parts?

I've got cola that has spilled everywhere and now is gumming up the shifter......the plastic curtain is not sliding as nice as it should and is sticking......

I've cleaned as much as I could but I need to get inside to clean everything properly...

I know I can turn the shifter counter clockswise to remove the knob, but I"m not not sure how to remove the silver and grey pastic pieces.

Anyone ?

After you remove the shifter knob, just lift the console cover up.

Just be careful to pull at the corners and work it off slowly. It takes a bit to get it started but once it starts coming off, it gets easier... Just don't pull too far away from a fastener.... you will break it.

these tools are great for any interior work. i wont ever work on my interior without them again. they are great for not scratching and removing stubborn panels & plastic fasteners.

Re: cola all over console...how do I take it apart?

I had something similar to that happen to me. An 18 wheeler decided to pull into my lane as I was just about to pass so I had to slam on the breaks. The Lipton Green Tea in my cup holder slung forward and some of the contents got in my shifter. I used a paper towel and dropped water down on the sliding plastic pieces and worked the shifter. You may have to do this multiple times, but it's pretty much cleaned up now. I didn't have to take the shifter apart.
