08 SE Power window failure(s)

Today my driver side power window finally gave out and wont respond at all. My back two get stuck nearly 100% of the time when you roll them down and you have to play with the switches to get them to go back up. The only windows left working are my passenger side and my rear glass. Has anyone had window failure this bad? The truck is an 08 crew cab SE model with about 70k miles now so no warranty. Any cheap solutions?

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

mine had that happen to the driver's window, but all the others have been fine. my mom was sick of it not working, so she had it fixed when I was at college this semester. best mom ever.

only thing I could suggest is used window motors, but those could just as easily give out.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

Without knowing if you have a motor failure, an electrical transmit failure, or what, it's hard to say how to best fix it. More than likely, it's a bad series of motors, but I'd take a look at the wiring for corrosion, especially if you live in an area that's prone. Or, if you get your truck dirty a lot (mud/sand/dust) you might have switch issues. Get a multi-meter and take voltage readings at the motors and switches, and you'll be well on your way to diagnosing.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

Yea used motors would probably not be a reliable solution. It sucks that the truck isnt even that old and 3 of 5 window motors or whatever it may be already kicked the bucket. Corrosion isnt really a problem in south Tx and Ive never taken the thing off road really since its 2wd with an open diff.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

I'd check the motors and then the switches. Could just be a dust issue causing switch failure.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

I think the issue maybe due more to the switch(es) than the motor. My rear windows will not roll up from the front driver switch, but their individual switches will roll up the windows.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

I just bought my 04' Titan CC 2wd with 106k on Tuesday went to roll the window down at lunch (first time I tried since its been pretty cold out) it went up and down the first time but I had stopped it before it got to the bottom when I got to the window pay for my food I rolled it the rest of the way down. When I tried to roll it up, nothing so I took the panel off found no corrosion had power at the plug on the motor so I bumped the inner skin where it bolts on with my hand and it came up. I put on the window lock and it will stay on til spring when its important. Ill be watching to see if anyone else is having the same problem.

Re: 08 SE Power window failure(s)

I had that problem with my 04 it was like that when I bought it and only 13000 miles..took it back and they said it was from the weather stripping it somehow had jumped over it..finally after 3 years the motor went and cost over$400 to replace it only to find that they had not even fixed the weather stripping..I just took the panel off and did it myself(easy fix) and never had a problem with it after that..hoping the fixed alot of the problems they had in the beginning as I bought a 2010..same smoke color

I thought it could be the weather stripping but when I had the panel off I took it off also. There was no change that's when I thumped it with my hand and it went up. However now window lock off it will not roll down but all the others will.
