wednesday i swapped my friends intake manifold to a newer one on his dodge truck and he wanted me to port his tb. i ported both his intake manifold and throttle body. it got me thinking..... what if i ported our stock one? i was bored yesterday and i decided to mess with the truck again i took the throttlebody off and got a close look at it. we seem to have some kind of lip on it that reduces the opening to the butterfly. i went in and started to port it and it came out smoothly plus i took off more throughout the rest of it. i didnt mess with anything behind the butterfly. once buffed and polished i liked it i ran a couple of datalogs and im still running the same AFR LOL (im reading higher MAF gm/s but that may be because i just cleaned out my filter a month ago).. oh and no codes thrown! does anyone have a picture of a stock tb? i forgot to take a pic of it before i ported it. ill post pics later on today

was it easy? kinda sorta if u know how to use carbide burrs and have patience not to overdo it

did i see any performance gains? butt dyno lies to me so i gotta check at the track

how does it look? a dremel tool and some mothers wax it looks shiny!!!!!!!!!

TRUETRAC DIFFERENTIAL: bolts backing out?!?

I have been pondering and reading and pondering and reading and pondering some more. I REALLY want a truetrac REALLY BAD, but honestly reading all these stories about bolts backing out scares the hell out of me.

I have been pondering and reading and pondering and reading and pondering some more. I REALLY want a truetrac REALLY BAD, but honestly reading all these stories about bolts backing out scares the hell out of me.

I am a college student and I work hard for my money. I also do a lot of driving from the mountains of West Virginia (school) to the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland (hometown) so for me reliability is key. For me, if its not going to hold up and do its job its not worth the hassle.

I see many people are fixing their backed out bolts by cleaning them up and using red locktite. I feel that this should be done from the factory as I thought truetrac's are supposed to be bulletproof (the whole reason for the upgrade.)

My question is am I safe getting a truetrac and having it installed out of the box without having to mess with the 12 bolts? OR should I have the bolts all taken out and put back in with red locktite and re-torqed BEFORE I even install the unit (more or less follow the motto of "if it ain't broke don't fix it?!?!)

Every time I accelerate through the mountains I don't want to be scared that my truetrac is gonna leave me stranded on the side of the road with no cell service or gas station for miles...

Does anyone know if this quality problem been addressed by the manufacturer of the truetrac?

Anyones input, wisdom, tips or experiences with the truetrac they can share would be greatly appreciated. I really wanna get rid of my "one-tire-fire" on my 4X2 Titanbut if I have to sacrifice reliability and fear my differential could fail at any minute doesn't seem all that worth it!

THANKS!!!

Hey everyone, just installed my new cai today and it really roars when you get on it. Installing it is a breeze, only thing they dont tell you is you need about 7 or 8 inches of 5'8 in hose to connect the older hoses. I have the magnaflows and together they sound great. Next thing im thinkin is a nice set of 22 or 24 in rims. If I could start a thread on pics of all the different rims and types that people have on here, it would help with some ideas.. I just cant make up my mind which way i wana go with them. Big spoke, skinny spokes, chrome, black. I have a white Titan by the way, so anyone else with a white one would help the most.. Thanks

Went and picked up my Nitrous today. My shift kit and tranny fluid should be in Friday and my new intake and one piece Stull replacement grille should also be here this week. Any of you guys running NOS I have a couple questions, I am probably going to get this professionally installed when I get my shift kit installed, but I want to know

a: This kit came with a WOT switch, but I heard it is bad to spray through the shifts, so is it easy to swap out the WOT switch to a manual switch I can just push?

b: Are you using custom fuel rail adaptors? The guy I bought it from had a fuel pressure testing port on his fuel rail, that he could just unscrew and the NOS fitting fit right in, do we have that or what have you guys done?

c: What is the Titan OEM fuel pressure?

My son's T has exactly 40K miles on it when we decided to put cams and a 07+ Intake on.

When I removed the intake I was amazed at what I found. In each intake port of the head, where the injectors spray fuel, there was a build up of what can only be called TAR. Each port had a thick tar like substance that would only come clean with brake cleaner on a rag along with some elbow grease. I wish I would have taken some pictures but didn't have a camara handy.

My son being 18 and running the roads all the time, he has always used the cheapest gas he could find (usually Walmart gas just down the street). After finding this kind of build up of sludge, all my cars from now on will be using quality gas from the major companies that put detergents in their fuels. No more Murpheys fuel from Walmart in any of my vehicles.

Just thought I would share what I found during this tear down.
