Maken room for the new TITANS!!!!

Our Gov. Bush just got 1/2 BILLION dollars to spend on I-4 and a new train from Orlando to Tampa. They are going to widen the road to 12 lanes through Orlando. Can you believe it they havent finished the last road project on I-4 that has been going since 1990. That road has never stopped being under construction. So what is the differance? It will just take another 15 years of dealing with that nightmare of a road to get 2 more lanes on each side. Well at least by then the road will be wide enough for the new 750 HP, 1090 lb torque, V12, desiel, bobtail, 10 wheeler Titans coming out in 2015!

That last line is funny. The sad fact about roadway projects in Florida is that they will never end. The population booms and we can't keep up. We have a saying in the civil engineering field, "Build it and they will come". If we added 12 lanes to I-4, it would still be packed at rush hour eventualy and that's just the way it works. in my 13 years in this business, I have yet to see roadway improvements that made a difference for long but it keeps food on my table and a Titan in the drive.

You think it's better anywhere else? Hell, here in Portland, theyve been working on Hwy. 26, a main east-west artery from Portland to the westt burbs, for so many years I forget! It was the same up in the Seattle-Bellevue area with I-405, seemed like it took 12-15 years, but at least it's done and it's helped the congestion....a little.

I live in Lakeland and I-4 has been under construction since before I moved here in 1992.It just makes me happy to hear that the cluster f@#$ will continue for the next 15-20 years.I am glad that I only have to drive to county line rd. to go to work and most of that is on the polk co.pkwy.

there's a reason why our state symbol is a barricade

I was one of the many who wanted our state quarter to include a barricade on the back instead of the shuttle

Re: Maken room for the new TITANS!!!!

They said from the beginning that I-4 would be obsolete by the time it was finished. I thought Bush opposed that stupid bullit train between Tampa+Orlando. Lesee... Tampa=Tampa International Airport, Orlando= Disney. Hmmm.
