Re: Future Nissan Titan Ideas/Discussion/Suggestions?

What the heck...

I could use a rear end re-design. something tougher so the axles don't bend, and of course, fix the damn diff.

Also, I would like more room around the wheels from the factory, so when I put bigger tires on, there won't be any rub issues. (nothing stupid big, but it would be nice to get to 35 without cutting)

Again on tires (not a problem on my '04, but for others) lets get to a nice accepted standard rim size. 18s are limited in selection, 17 is a lot better, or 20. And lets get the full 8 in wide rim so everybody's tires will fit.

Switch to disable ABS, in the snow and mud, the truck can't drive as well as I can, so get out da way, and let me handle it.

Get rid of the rake, it doesn't look cool.

Fog light controls that are the same as american cars (on without headlights, cause the headlights basically defeat the entire purpose).

DO NOT turn on the AC automagically ever, no matter what. It is stupid when it is snowing out and the I switch on the defrost, and the AC compressor comes on until I turn the heat up. I will turn on the AC when I need it.

If you moved the oil filter out about 1 more inch, it wouldn't drip on anything (on the '04 anyway)

Real leather seats option.

I also like the rear seat pockets idea.

Re: Future Nissan Titan Ideas/Discussion/Suggestions?

CVT transmission???? I just drove a Versa for a day then a hybrid Altima both with CVT. I have to say they where both pretty cool. Having ridden snowmobiles since I was 5 I'm real familiar with them they worked very well in the cars you stay right on the power band no drop off and they have a very wide ratio and smooth delivery. Thinking of the hybrid as I drive all round town sales miles 30k a year and can't stand giving the money to towel heads. I'll keep the titan as well.

Also, I would like more room around the wheels from the factory, so when I put bigger tires on, there won't be any rub issues. (nothing stupid big, but it would be nice to get to 35 without cutting) Wouldn't take much to accomplish this one Nissan.

Again on tires (not a problem on my '04, but for others) lets get to a nice accepted standard rim size. 18s are limited in selection, 17 is a lot better, or 20. And lets get the full 8 in wide rim so everybody's tires will fit. I don't see them offering 17's any longer due to size of brakes.

Switch to disable ABS, in the snow and mud, the truck can't drive as well as I can, so get out da way, and let me handle it. Seems simple enough to incorporate, little stuff like this just adds on to the price though.

Get rid of the rake, it doesn't look cool. Stock stance is too "old man" for such a cool truck otherwise!!!

Fog light controls that are the same as american cars (on without headlights, cause the headlights basically defeat the entire purpose). Easy fix for you Nissan.

DO NOT turn on the AC automagically ever, no matter what. It is stupid when it is snowing out and the I switch on the defrost, and the AC compressor comes on until I turn the heat up. I will turn on the AC when I need it. This has never happened on my truck????

If you moved the oil filter out about 1 more inch, it wouldn't drip on anything (on the '04 anyway). I don't have this problem either, does your's have the little trough below the filter? Maybe this was added in 05??? It lets the oil run down the trough, overtop the sway bar and 'viola' right into your drain pan-no mess. My PC lift moved the sway bar forward 1/4" though, and now the trough isn't long enough for the oil to clear the sway bar!

Real leather seats option. Self Explanatory!

I also like the rear seat pockets idea. One of my seats has it and the other doesn't??? What sense does that make?
I incorporated my comments in bold above. All very great points.

Don't forget about those stupid clicking fake *** wheel covers either. Can you say lame-o!!

Ability to change speedo readout after change in tire size!!!

"I also like the rear seat pockets idea. One of my seats has it and the other doesn't??? What sense does that make?"

the front seat folds flat and can be used as a desk or eating surface.. i've done it a few times. i liked the hard plastic vs. a map pocket while doing this, my pizza didn't ruin the plastic either, the pleather pocket may have stained or.. melted. i'm not sure if it works on the bench seats though....

The ABS makes breaking corrections hundreds of times per second. Unless you're Jamie Sommers, no one is that fast. Please note that this is not aimed at any one particular person but seems to be something I see in alot of ABS discussions. Sometimes people just need to slow down and drive according to conditions as they are, not the way they wish they were.

Get rid of the rake, it doesn't look cool. This I agree with.

Fog light controls that are the same as american cars (on without headlights, cause the headlights basically defeat the entire purpose). In some states (like mine: The New Jersey Soviet Socialist Republic), it is illegal to run fog lights either without headlights or with Highbeams on. Which is why the fogs kick off when you turn on the highs. Stupid laws, but that's what they are.

DO NOT turn on the AC automagically ever, no matter what. It is stupid when it is snowing out and the I switch on the defrost, and the AC compressor comes on until I turn the heat up. I will turn on the AC when I need it. This definitely could be done better. My last vehicle did this also. The compressor is supposed to help pull the humidity out of the interior to defog the windows.
Note: bold italics in the quote above are mine.

I have to add that I agree with EVERY ONE who complained about the interior plastic and fabric. This seems to be a common complaint. Nissan: ARE YOU listening?!?

Re: Future Nissan Titan Ideas/Discussion/Suggestions?

I know I'll catch heck for this, but could we get some wipers that actually work when your going 75 mph+++.

Nothing like driving on the turnpike, in a slight drizzle, and the dam wipers won't maintain down pressure on the windsheild!!!

Re: Future Nissan Titan Ideas/Discussion/Suggestions?

In reverse Order:
54, Try the Bosch Icon wipers, I have one of those on now and one of the standard Michelin, and I gotta say, the Bosch a pretty impressive, even at highway speed.

Toolman: I was going to tear you in half for your idiotic first comment, but I understand that you are from Jersey. Someday you will drive in real mud and you will understand the problem with ABS. It goes like this: You are on a slight incline, you push the brakes, the tires keep turning because of ABS. Without ABS, the mud will cake in front of the tires, and you will stop. Please do some research, don't just take my word for it.

On fogs, I guess you don't make the rules. But how are the 'Big 3' getting away with it then?

54 (older): If you turn the air to vents, then turn on the truck, if you flip the air direction to defrost, your A/C comes on, No?
On the ABS switch, I work designing controls, and one of the cardinal rules of interface design is to provide a disable for every feature that affects basic operation, because someday, it WILL effect basic operation.
I know the switch will cost $0.12, and the install labor will cost $365, but I would still like to see it as a standard feature. I hate paying extra for features that are not 'fluff'.

Wow, this turned out to be a long post.

What do you mean "turn the air to vents"??? Not sure I'm following you. I don't have a "Vent" function on my knobs. The 04's were different.

I just mean 'not defrost', like out of the vents on the floor or something. On mine, that would be any but last 2 positions on the right.
