Ok so I am going cat fishing hopefully this Saturday if nothing comes up. I'm going to Lake Jordan, NC. Problem is that I have never really done this before. Spent most of my life buried in books and never really had any time for fun. Was wondering if you guys could give me some tips please.
Thanks!
the stinkier the bait the better. i use 2 day old macro..........ugh the sh*t stinks but it works like a charm.....dont waste you money on those color jars they dont work. also if you can get your hands on P Line its better cause they can see regular line. P Line turns invisible, that is why it cost what it cost but well worth it. I think $30 for 200yards.

That boat is the cat's meow. Why would it not be good for catfishing???
Bait doesn't even have to be stinky. Chicken livers on a treble hook. Works like a charm around here.
oh yea treble hooks work great i forgot to mention that too...but they have to be very small depending on how big the cat fish is. well every time i went and used the color bait i would go home empty handed. after using dead macro...idk if you ever smelled dead macro? it worked great. you can also use lures, just throw it far and pull that way the fish can get attracted to it.

oh yea use the finest line possible....thick line is no good....other words anything made in china sucks cause it tangles.

I'm with Carbeaux, chicken livers always worked great for me. Catfish aren't particularly picky about what they eat they are just a little on the lazy side and don't want to work very hard for their dinner. I've never had any luck with artificial lures, although I have caught a few accidently while bass fishing using artificials. Also I wouldn't waste my money on the expensive fishing line, the best places to catch catfish is in water that you can't see through [can you say muddy?]. A good quality 10 lb. monofilament will work just fine.
Best places to find catfish is in slow moving, warm, murky water. You don't even need a float, just toss your bait out, let it sit on the bottom and wait.
Good luck!!

Yeah you could do that as well. Not for me though i'm too chicken. I did work with a good lookin gal that did it that way. She was also one heck of a hunter and a pretty darn good bow shot.

Thanks for the tips guys. One other question: Someone told me that you catch more fish on a cloudy/rainy day. Is this true?
no you catch more cat fish the day after it stops raining.....so if its raining right now......wait up early the next day and you will for sure catch something..if you go on a sunny day not really
