I carry one round- kind of like the old Texas adage, one war one ranger!
Just kidding, I usually carry three rounds for my Ruger .308

My ex wife's family had a ranch out west of Brady, TX. The land next door was heaily wooded and leased out for hunting. Well one time we were out there near the fence line along the creek shooting nutria. When we got closer to the fence, I heard bullets whizzing over our heads, followed a couple of minutes later by "get out of the cover!" well little did those rental jackasses know we were on our own property. Nevertheless, I don't think anything came of it.

Read it and decide for yourself. Which story sound more realistic. The news and media are just there to make the story sound interesting. The SKS is not an assault rifle, The guy has a hunting license, was wearing an blaze orange vest, and so on.
Sounds like cold blooded murder to me. I don't believe that he unintentionally wandered onto private property. I have to deal with tresspassers almost every year, they think it is their God given right to hunt whenever and wherever they want to. It's damn near impossible to catch them red handed, they usually hear you coming and simply move off the property before you get there. Or when you do confront them they always say "oh I thought this was so and so's land and I have permission to hunt".
I'm sure that the hunting club in Wisconsin had their land clearly and properly posted, signs only keep the ethical hunters out and usually don't deter the slobs.
Personally I hope they put a deer costume on the SOB and turn him loose on some public land loaded with hunters.
My thoughts and prayers are with the survivors of this horendous crime, I cannot imagine the anguish that they must be going through.
I know this will probably gross some people out, so if you don't like to see dead deer DON'T LOOK . Anyway this is my wife's deer from last year, opening day of the gun season in middle Tennessee.
whaw dat looks fine. and the dead deer looks good, also.
congradualtions for having a sweet hunting good wife!

hunting with [chose any legal weapon] is a great American priviledge and right!
One of the many blessings we can thank The Good Lord for being American.
America has our legal framework borne from English Common Law and the liberal secular ideals of the Renaissance. Even if you don't hunt, it's everybody's business to protect liberties and respect individual choices.
Relying on big agri-corporations to slow torcher-kill meat [beef, pork, chicken, etc] after being grown in confinement in cement cells and injected with unnatural harmones and then packing them neatly for your easy eating is dumb enough already.
I think this will come down as who fired the first shot, not who was on private property.
and also that dude chasing them downANDshooting in the back...that turned him from a law abiding citizen using justfiable self-defense into now a villian, a felon that commited 2nd degree murder. he'll have to pay the price.
