Never argue with idiots. They'll drag you down to their level and beat you with experience.

two guns i owned that sucked were and fn mag 58 a belt fed version of the fn fal jambed every 150 to 200 rounds. the desert eagle 50 would slpit bowling pins in half at 25 yards but let the gas tube get dirty and it wouldn't eject the shells all the way. the best was an h&k mp5-k had an estimated 70 to 80 thousand rounds with only 1 known malfunction due to crappy ammo as i was the 2nd owner of the weapon.

I just picked up a Springfield XD that is compensated. It's chambered in 40 S&W. Love it. My home defense is a Remington 870 tacticle shotgun with a surfire light mounted on the forend. I had the honor of testing out about a year ago. No shots fired!! Amazing how the sound of a shotgun racking a shell gets somebodies attention. hahahaha
I just though I would come back in and see what all the fuss was about. Some good reading, parts kinda funny too. I have a few, and enjoy shooting. I gave my AK47 to my dad, gone full auto with some basic military arms. I have to agree, scoped or not, full auto is all about sending rounds down range. Thats why 3round bursts are great. Center mass and the next two will rise. The ones I have now shoot, 22LR, .223, 308, 30-06, and a 12g. I still have my SW9mm and Govt issue Beretta M9. I use to have the old 45 and carried it daily. It was a good gun for what it was made for and fairly accurate up to 25 yards. I do like the 40 and 45s now that are out, Brother carries the beretta 40 on duty and good old dad has his sig 45. Now that is a great gun to shoot. They both carry the glock 27 off duty. Since I left law enforcement I don't carry one other than the M9 but we did have sigs to issue our military investagators. For the home I still have my 12gage. I don't think anything is as well rounded and easy to use. A buddy of mine picked up one of the XDs and I was shocked on how nice it was and accurate. It has to fit your hand though. It worked great for me, Wife just couldn't get use to it holding it and it showed at the range.

Wow...alot of good info in here...I am looking to make a purchase in an AR type of gun, but not sure what to get. I have a Glock 23 that I carry on and off duty as of now, and a SW Model 640 .357.

the m4 is one of the best home protection arms you can use. since you can mount lights, sights and lasers. i use my panther arms ap4 chambered in 6.8 spc as a home defense firearm and i have a para ordinance stealth warthog as my backup or my gun to finish them off with!
Panther is one of the manufacturers I was looking as well as the Warthog...can you give me some feedback on both?
The panther arms is a great weapon the accuracy and functionality of the weapon is excellent. The 6.8 spc round is suprisingly accurate and really knocks them dead i shot a groundhog this summer at 300 yds and it nearly split the pig in half. As for my .223 (model 70) that i use for pigs it doesn't do that even though i shoot 75gr hollowpoints molycoated. Now i am searching for the right scope for it not sure if i want and aimpoint or a ACOG? As for the warthog it is a wonderful little fire breathing toy. I have the stealth warthog with the novak low mount night sights. I will function with any type of ammo except for the cheapies such as blazers it really doesn't like them too much the power extractor sometimes fails to extract with the steel cases but with other types of ammo no problems i have a glock 22 that i use for duty. I couldn't see using anything else for my job.
DPMS makes a decent AR but I would go with a Bushy or Rock River Arms if you want to buy a complete weapon. Or Colt if you want to pay a few hundred bucks more for basically the same weapon. In the AR world building is your best option. You can build a top notch weapon for well under what a complete rifle will cost you and a monkey can build an AR. Onebasasstitan what purpose do you want the scope for? Close quarter battle or mid to long range? That will determine if you need an aimpoint or ACOG. The ACOG is magnified while the aimpoint is not. Anybody looking for info on the AR platform as well as pretty much any other gun info you could want check out AR15.com. It is the largest firearms forum on the internet and has a HUGE wealth of info.

i am looking for the mid to long range so i guess the ACOG would be the best just read an article about the ACOG in my shooting times and i have made my decision. I would love to spend that kind of money on more popular ar manufacturer but i couldn't afford but my panther arms (DPMS) satisfies my needs tremendously. Plus neither of them are making the 6.8 spc in there line of AR's. But i am going to have my ar worked on by a gunsmith here in western pennsylvania that is one of the best in the country! So the gun will only get better with work by both me and the gunsmith.
The AR is also my home defense weapon of choice. I just need to get a good weapon light and a real Aimpoint. One day I would like to build a dedicated home defense AR with a short barrel. Til then I'll just have mine at the ready with a mag full of these bad boys.
For you shotgun lovers for personal defense, the 12 gauge pump loaded with 00 buckshot is just about as effective as it gets in close quarters.
I have a Remington 1100 semi-auto with short 20 inch slug barrel and open rifle sights. If my life were on the line in my own home, I have considerable comfort in its capabilities.
But the Winchester Model 12 pump is a truly awesome personal defense weapon. It is no longer manufactured (probably because one of its most endearing features drives liability lawyers batty). That feature is that if you hold the trigger down after firing the first round, the gun will fire again without another trigger pull every time you rack the slide back forward chambering the next round until the magazine is empty.
Not only does the sound of that slide get the attention of someone wanting to do you harm, but the rate of fire when holding the trigger down and working the slide is faster than most semi-automatics. And the quality of materials and workmanship on a Model 12 is something we have sadly lost over the years.
My Model 12 has a longer barrel and is chambered in 3" magnum, but I'm attaching a photo of what a 6 round WWII era Model 12 trench gun looks like.

Green T do u reload? R those nosler ballistic tips? I use those in my model 70 custom coyote to kill ground hogs and coyotes. They really work nice. you should also try some 75gr hornady hollowpoints. I shoot those as well when i am shooting at long distances i once to a 16.75lb ground hog at 503 yards with that hornady bullet and it rocked that chucks face!
