I have a 16 foot boat with a 23 hp go-devil. It has 9 500 watt halogen lights with a 5500 watt generator that I use for bow fishing red fish. When I drive around with the lights on mullet are constantly jumping in my boat, also get some shrimp jump in while driving. On a normal night I get atleast 20 mullet jump in my boat, and it is less than 20 miles round trip.
A buddy of mine took me fishing out of Cocodrie one night in his bass tracker. We were on our way back to the launch running about 55mph and a large mullet jumps right in front of us. It shattered the plexiglass in his console then knocked him cold, as a dead fish if you will. I had to grab the wheel and throttle back and he was out laying in the floor bleeding like a stuck pig. I had never seen anything like that before and hope to never be first party in it either.

In the go-devil you have to stand up while driving, and I have had many mullet hit me. One knocked my hand off the motor, and another knocked my hat off. None have ever knocked me out, or made me bleed thank goodness. Cocodrie, my brother used to run charter boats out of coco marina.

Finding the fish is very easy, but fiquring out how tho hit them with the deflection of light in water is another thing. You have to aim below the fish, how far below depends on how deep the fish is and how far the fish is away from the boat. Most people hit less that 1 out of atleast 25 shots.
He won't get as shallow as you with the go devil, he's got a 22 Bay Stealth.
Wow that is a big boat for bow fishing, I usually don't fish in water deeper than 2 feet. I like to find water that is about a foot deep. I wish mine was a little wider, it is only 42 inches wide wish it was 56. That is why I only bring 2 with 3 people and a 150 quart ice chest, another smaller ice chest for beer and 3 bows there aint much room left.

What's the draft on your boat with full load? I think he's at 10" but he lightenes it for bow fishing by removing some inners and also he has a 50hp he replaces the 250 with.

My boat loaded down draws about 7 inches of water, but I can run in no water if the mud is soft. He is going to need atleast 6 inches below the boat for the motor, A friend of mine uses a carolina skiff with a 90 tahatsu( don't know how to spell that) his alarm is always going off because the intakes keep getting clogged. Were I run my boat I would be scared to run a fiberglass boat the oyster shells have really messed up the bottom of my alluminum boat.
