I'm looking for an opinion from anybody who own's, owned, or ever shot a Switchback or the new XT. There are only a few archery shops around here and between the ones I trust my brands to choose from are PSE, Matthews, Reflex, and Fred Bear/Jennings. I was at a shop last night and took a few shots out of the Switchback XT and it seemed pretty smooth. I have shot the regular switchback before and it was amazingly smooth but I didn't care for the weight of that bow(it was a real lunker) and it was kind of long for my taste. They are also both pretty expensive, are they worth the cost??? Any others that I should consider??? I shoot a Reflex that is borrowed now so I have to buy my own in the future...just looking for some educated comments.

Can't help out much on the Switchback or the XT as I haven't shot either one of them. I picked one up a couple of years ago at our local sporting-goods store and just couldn't get used to how short the new bows are. But I do own a Matthews MQ1 and have shot it now for several years and haven't had any problems out of it. So that should speak for Matthews quality.
All of the current bow's are top-notch, the best way to choose the right one is to shoot as many different ones as you can. One of them will just seem to "fit" better than the rest.
Good luck!!

I've heard great things about the XT but I haven't shot it yet.I'm more into speed.I have the BlackMax II and I'm very satisfied with mine.I shoot 298fps at 28" draw at 61 lbs.The faster the bow,the less arc there is to the arrow flight.Which in turns means you can shoot through tighter spots.Any bow can go fast. You should look into Parker as well. They make great bows.In my family we have MQ,MQ32,BlackMax,and 2 BlackMax II's.No problems yet.

it all depends on how much you want to spend really. I have a hoyt Xtec and love it. But i have also shot bowtech as well and they both are tremendous bows. But for speed, smootness and quietness i would look into a hoyt. Since we are in the same general area i have a shop locally that deals in bowtech and can probably get you a good deal as for hoyt he will soon be getting them as well. Well let me know

OneBad, I'd appriciate it if you'd PM me the shop name. If you trust them, I'll check em' out. BigJimbo, I hunt all public land but if you happen to have the sportsmans channel, my buddies are featured on a hunting show that is on Wednesday nights at 6:00. Their names are Eric and Jerry Dunn. They're brothers and do all of their hunting on public land, fair chase, in PA and OH. They shoot some real bruisers...there are definately some up here. Check em' out if you can, the do a lot of fishing also.
Thanks for the replies so far!
Top notch archery shop. I shoot Proline, but they have a ton of Mathews and an indoor range they will let you try out on. They'll even set it up for you at the shop and fine tune her for ya'.
