Now that's a nice one!! He looks mighty proud. I can still remember my first squirrel to this day and how proud I was. Give the young hunter a pat on the back from the "bowhunter."

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

That is great to see. It is pretty uncommon to see young hunters up here anymore...I wish more fathers would take their children into the woods more often. It keeps them out of trouble. Great Job!

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

thanks for the comments, he is very proud, he come home with his squirel tails and i cracked up cause momma was asleep in the bed and he woke her to show her with the tails like an inch from her face, it was priceless. i started him off playing hunting games on the xbox and i really didn't have much choice on taking him cause that is all i heard is that he wanted to go hunting, lol, but i am glad he takes an interest in it. it does keep them out of trouble also.

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

awesome man, I wish I would have gotten into hunting a lot sooner than I did. Great sport, teaches you about the outdoors...and if taught properly, a good sportsman. Theres no coaches' son perks, no my dad bought this for the leagues....its all you and the animals...no way to cheat the system.

As for the 2nd picture, it looks like he sees something else he wants to blast away..

PS: whats the youngest age to hunt in your state? I think its 14 here in FL -- 16 w/o supervision

I'm not really sure but I take him on family land and it's a really small town, so no worries. He has already said he wants to shoot a deer, and wanted to use my brothers 12gauge, but I told he has to get just a little bigger for that, lol.

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

I've got pics of my boys posing like that at a similar age, src4usarmy. Don't blink, cause if you do, he'll be a head taller than you and out on his own. I hope to have a second go-around with grandbabies someday.

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

Nice man, I remember a lot of nice trips with my Dad back in the day, I always tried to miss cuz I'm kind of an animal guy.....DONT FLAME ME! I'm all for hunting, fishing, guns, etc. I just like the animals alive better than dead, again DONT FLAME ME, yes I eat meat and wear leather shoes and kill flies and ants regularly. I'm just saying they were nice trips and good memories. Cheers to you for taking time with your son doing something you both enjoy.

You'll not be flamed by me, sounds like you have your head set on your shoulders straight. Hunting isn't for everyone, and I wouldn't push hunting on someone who doesn't enjoy it.

Glad to see that you have the right perspective though and can see that hunting has it's place.

Re: pics of my boys 1st real hunt

That's too cool!! Does my heart good to see youngsters learning about hunting. I started my son out hunting with me when he was 5. Now 12 he has more tree rats than me, a few nice deer and a few porkers.

If the picture shows up. This is my son's first porker with a knife. He was 9 then.
