just shot my first deer 2 days ago.. it was a 6 point, small but im happy... it measured 9.5 inches inside at widest point, 11 inches outside, and 10 tall.... first time i ever shot at a deer and i killed it, i shot just slightly behind the shoulder, it ran about 10 yards into the woods and laid down... what an awesome experience, now im hooked, ready to shoot another one...
i could have killed a doe too.... but it wasnt my deer stand and i didnt wat to be greedy... 4 does came out to my right about 100 yards away, i watched them for 30 min, then off to my left another doe came out, then a buck right behind her about 75 yards away... she was in front of the buck, so i had to shoot over her but still hit the buck, of course i was sucsessful... when i shot, i wasnt sure i hit the buck, and to my amazement, the 4 does to my right just stayed right there..... i could have shot one of those too, i waited about 45 mins after i shot then i went and got a flashlight and looked for my deer ( he ran off the path 10 yards) when i walked to where he was when i shot him there were 2 deer watching me from about 50 yards away and another one ran off as i walked down the path, man that place was loaded with deer......
Congrats to ya Stuntdriver!!! Aint nothing like your first deer, I still remember mine and it's been, well a long, long time, lol.
You did good killing the first deer you ever shot at, I can't remember how many deer I shot at and just flat missed before I finally got the first one.
Now for a real blast go get you a bow and try that. If you think getting one with a rifle was a hoot just wait till you get your first one with a stick and string.

Got my first one this past weekend. Been hunting for 6 years and finally popped a 118# doe from abot 75 yards away just before 7:00am on Saturday the 18th. The 7mm dropped her in her tracks. She kicked twice and that was it. Could have shot at a big basket rack buck that came out just after 8:00am, but he stopped as soon as he saw the doe. He stopped right behind a tree and we had a stare down for what seemed like an eternity, then he "winded" me and took off. Oh well doe meat is better than no meat I guess. I attached some pictures of a few trophies that had been killed where we were hunting this weekend in Salem, AL.
Nice work stuntdriver. i'm going for my first time tomorrow for 4 days up at my dads cabin in the mountains of West Virginia. I'll be sure to take lots of pics
