The wife and I got over to the lease Friday afternoon, opening day of the rifle season was to open the following morning. We did a little scouting and found some fresh sign. Since it was still bow season and I just happened to have my bow we put our stands up with the idea of me hunting and the wife just watching to see what came through the area so we would know what to expect the next day. We hadn't been in our stands 30 min when she spotted a small buck heading our way, unfortunatly he didn't come within bow range of me. Around 5:30 I saw movement to my right and saw a large doe heading my way, she got in front of me at 20 yards and I let fly. I saw my arrow disapear into her chest and saw her go down within sight of my stand. We were off to a pretty good start!!
The next morning was cold and clear, we made our way to our stands in the darkness and got settled in. By 11:00 neither one of us had seen a single deer so we headed back to the camper to get a bite to eat and figure our strategy for that evenings hunt, we decided to hunt a swampy area where she had taken an 11 pointer a couple of years ago. I dropped her off at her stand and went a hundred or so yards away to my stand. As the sun was starting to set she whispered into her walkie talkie that she was ready to get down, I said lets wait a few more minuites because at this point neither one of us had seen a deer all day. Five minuites later she again whispered "I hear a deer coming" followed shortly by a loud boom. I immediatly got down and headed for her stand where she was proudly standing over a nice 5 point buck. She once again made a perfect shot, darn i'm a good teacher.
