Shot it in southern Minnesota. Personally me and the whole group has never seen anything that big in the woods. Don't know how it survived Shotgun, bow and all the way to the last weekend of Muzzle Loader season. Shot a total of 5 deers that weekend. 3 bucks, (that 12 pointer, a 6 pointer and a bottom buck) and 2 does. The buck pretty much filled up the whole truck bed by itself.
The titan didn't get to haul it, the Titan hauled the equipment, a 88 Chevy hauled the Buck and another 97 Chevy haued the other 4.
That day was the PERFECT day, dead calm, and temperature was 45 sunny. The buck came out around 4:15-4:20 pm, saw what looked like branches moving. Then it came out and the branches turned to antlers. Waited for it to take 2 steps. "Mlaa" i whispered, the buck stops and Boom right in it's stomach. It does a 180, hops around about 15 yards then stops, his front legs were shaking and it just collapsed hard. I knew that was it.
Hyper ventilated for about half an hour during and after I shot it. After 7 years of getting does and bottom bucks, finally got my buck i've only dreamed about.
Wow, you seem to be taking them out. You sure your not hunting a "High Fence"?

Didn't want to miss, so shot the biggest part of the Body.. it's tummy.
Did you weigh it after it was field dressed ????
There was one taken in NW Tenn. in Henry County, Paris,Tenn. in 2003 or 2004 that weighed 250 lbs. feild dressed...It was a 13 point but they only registered it as a 11 point because it had two 8" long tines(spl) sticking straight down by its head towards the ground....It was a moose just like the one you shot...Awesome kill fellowx !!!!!

Another great buck goes down!.........I know that feeling of not getting a big buck for years.I've seen my share of nice bucks during the bow season but just couldn't get a good shot or was caught before I could draw back.
I don't hunt the gun season cause I love archery too much.I've been tempted.I keep saying maybe next year everytime the orange season starts but never do it....
But I'm from MN as well.Maybe we can meet up sometime and have a beer when I get back in town from Cali.I met one of the guys out here in Milpitas last week by San Jose.I'll be back this Friday.Let me know.

Here's some more pictures..... How old do you think he is? 5 years? There's 1.4 million deers in MN, about 250K get harvested every year. 5 Years wouldn't be too long, you would think there'd be more of those bucks running around. What gives?
Age is only a small part of how big a deers rack gets has more to do with genetics and what its eating. Your lucky getting him with a gut shot not the best shot to take but you got him. Congrats on a once in a lifetime deer.

You are correct!! It does indeed take all three,"age, nutrition, and genetics" to grow a big buck.
I'm no expert but I would age this deer at least 5 1/2 or 6 1/2 years old. Only exact way is to check the teeth.
