Your friends?! Remind me not to visit you! That is some nice work, though. I was thinking more along the lines of wild boar. But those are what? Farm pigs?

Helomech will correct me if i'm wrong, but I would wager that what he is trying to catch are feral hogs. True wild boar are few and far between these days because they will interbreed with domestic hogs.

Feral hogs are domestic hogs and their offspring that have escaped and gone wild. They will over time even look like true wild boar, tusks, longer hair, etc. Even though they arent "wild boar' they still arent pussycats and can do some serious damage with their tusks to dogs and people. They also breed year round so their numbers can really explode if not kept in check.

One thing is for sure though.............they taste mighty fine an the barbie especially a young one.

Re: hogs

So you have free roaming hogs that you can trap w/o limit for free? That is pretty cool. I wish I could do that with deer.

Exactly, they have some russian boar mixed in some look more like the russian boar than others. But yes they are all very dangerous and can tear up lots of land. And they taste great. Here are a few pics of the different looks.hogs-icam0010_edited.jpg

Re: hogs

Holy cow! They come in herds! Can you just open up on them with a semi-auto rifle?

Yeah you can hunt them anyway you want. But they don't come on any type of regular basis, and I can't fiqure out when they will be here. I don't see them in the daytime, but the people on the hunting lease next to me said that sometimes they get so thick they block the get on the dirt road and don't want to move. Here are a few more.hogs-icam0021_edited.jpg

The fish are over with. I moved from south Louisiana and sold my boat. I gave up fishing for hunting. Never really cared for freshwater fishing, but maybe I will get into it.

Re: hogs

Yeah I like the saltwater better, but Freshwater fishing can be fun too. I live in a Brackish area, so we get all kinds of odd things coming through here.

Re: hogs

I got a 1 acre pond just behind my house and it is full of bass and perch. But they are really small the bass are only about 12 inches long. And there is a lake a couple miles from my house. I am hoping to find a place to catch some bull frogs around here soon.
