My only deer taken this past season

This was all I got but he was a big boy. Weight 200 lbs. Taken at Onward, MS which is about 30 minutes outside of Vicksburg, MS. Taken with a Remington 7MM-08.

Yeah if ONLY he was that big dude. lol I never looked at it that way. That little ranger we had him in makes him look huge lol but it will haul a load lemme tell ya. It went through delta mud and water while carrying one dead deer and 4 people. No problem.

Taken with a Remington 7MM-08 synthetic stock, w/ Burris variable scope. Used 115 grain ballistic tip. If you look closely I put it right in the killzone from the blood spot. When I gutted him I pierced the right and left atrium of his heart, and both lungs. I knew I hit him in the lungs for sure when I went to go check him out, since there were the tell-tale sign of bubbles in the blood. His front 2 legs stumbled when I hit him, he trotted for MAYBE 10 yard then fell like a brick, so I KNEW it had to be an awesome shot. It was beautiful. Wish I had it videoed. Ranged for 112 yards.

I have been looking at 7-08's for my son. Trying to keep recoil to minimum but I hand load and was able to load some .270wsm 140gr Hornady Spire Points well below max loads, very low recoil..

Yeah seen it was in a Ranger that's why I was bust'n on ya.

After I decorated this Buck like a Christmas tree and the wife and kids went inside I stabbed it with an icepick. Nice and clean, bled it like a pig and no meat damage.

Yeah the 7MM-08 has a moderate recoil, and can be a good rifle for him to kind of grow into. It is a very accurate rifle, and a good deer hunting caliber as well. I definitely say go with this over a 7MM, or a .308, because all a 7MM-08 is, is a 7MM bullet, with a .308 casing. Best thing for him to do is see what feels best to him. That is the only way I knew what I liked. Different strokes for different folks.

Right now he currently shoots a .35Rem and .44 Rem Mag, both Marlin lever guns. I am developing some reduced recoil loads for my .270wsm. Right now I have shooting real nice but I think I can get it better. Buddy of mine has 7mm-08 that I might play with for a while. He wants to start shooting the bolt action rifles or else he would just stay with the .35rem.
