Got a new BOOM BOOM!! (As my son calls it.)

Well got a new shotgun yesterday. I was torn between the Remington 870 Express and the Benelli Nova. Went to Gander Mountain yesterday afternoon and looked them over. Shouldered the Remington, it felt o.k. Then shouldered the Benelli, and man did it feel good. The Benelli had some extra features that I really liked, and it fit me well. Guess I'm ready to down some feathers now. Be-it Turkeys, Dove, or heck maybe even some Mallards or Geese if I can find someone to take me. Here's a link to the Benelli Nova Website.

Congrats on the new shotgun. I've got the 870 Rem. But the Benelli is a nice gun as well.

Now if this darn weather would warm up a bit the turkeys should be on the prowl.

Re: Got a new BOOM BOOM!! (As my son calls it.)

the nova's a great turkey gun too...as it handles 3.5" magnum shells without trouble. If it didn't come with the mercury recoil reducer I wouldn't get it, it doesn't do much for the recoil in my opinion.

Congrats on a nice shotgun. Wish I would have kept mine, but I can't complain as I got $200 out of it from some teenage when it was only $290 new.

Re: Got a new BOOM BOOM!! (As my son calls it.)

got my nova for $310 out the door. friggin' sweet gun! i was planning on an 870 to save a few bucks, but after handling the two, the benelli won hands down. just felt so much more solid and fits me better.

congrats on the new gun!

Re: Got a new BOOM BOOM!! (As my son calls it.)

congrats...the Nova is a pretty versatile piece...I've been looking at new pistols...

another 1911 style probably.....another 45acp or perhaps a 9mm.

I used to have a Browing Hi-Power but sold it about 20 years ago.

I've been eyeing some Wilson Combat guns but DAMN are they expensive....

maybe just get another Springfield and doctor it up a bit....

I got mine for $389. Came with 3 chokes. Modified, Improved Cylinder, and Full. Also got an extended warranty from Gander Mountain for $20, it also includes a $50 inspection and cleaning for FREE!!!

Lurchdubious, you got a good deal on yours it looks like. I see that you crumpled on the fit and finish of the Benelli over the 870 as I did.

Re: Got a new BOOM BOOM!! (As my son calls it.)

re the XD... the only issue has been the guide rod slipping off center preventing the pistol from going back into battery. Only seen this mentioned a few times online and only in the .45 acp 4".

They're nothing special really, just the next thing. The dovetail safety is nice, but frankly, i'd rather have a Sig for my next gun...but I'll keep the XD I've got in 9mm for my wife.

yeah it was a pretty sweet deal, came with the chokes, but not the warranty or the cleaning/inspection. plus i bought it from a high school buddy that works at sportsman's warehouse. i think he saved me about $20. nice freakin' gun.
